S&W M&P9 + Tac Light with Federal Hydrashock 147gr. (10+1 in the pipe); Stored in a Biometric Gunvault within reach from the bed. Mag #2 sits right next to her.

Would like a shotgun at some point, but I'm with another poster that said (more or less) inside my house a handgun is the only way to go because it's close quarters with lots of strange angles. The SG would be for barricade only, or to drop in the bugout bag for a SHTF scenario.

Springfield XD9 with federal HST 124 grain

Browning BPS High Cap with Federal 3 inch 00 buck magnums :)

Hmmm well my Saiga 12,Mossberg 12,Rem 870...Colt AR 9MM with 32 round mag RA Entry Tactical 223,a bunch of AK's..and my CCW Slimhawg and XD's.

Thats not counting my wifes guns...

870 bedside. It's cruiser ready with whatever type of 00 buckshot I have handy but I like the 12 pellet stuff. Thats got a bandoleer with ~ 25 rounds of buckshot ans the gun has a sidesaddle with 2 slugs and 2 more rounds buckshot.

My carry piece (GLOCK 19) sits bedside as well but i switch the 15 round mag out for the 33 rounder. The 1911 sits in a drawer near the front door in case I'm really taken by surprise.

The handguns are really only for the girlfriend or if I cant get to/ run out of ammo for the 870. I really like the shotgun for HD.

I now have a SAIGA 20 ga out of sight and reach of the three year old but readily accessable. I used to have a SAIGA 410 but hubby insists on the larger guage. First round is #2 shot to make the point an intruder has made a mistake, the rest 00 buck to drive the point home.

Glock 21SF w/Streamlight TLR-2 light/laser combo. Pearce +2 mag extension for 16 rounds total of Ranger RA45T.

Mossberg 12ga. stoked with 000 buck and slugs in a side saddle.

In Case of What?

12 gague 870 Remington Marine Magnum, stoked with #6 shot primarily;
but the final two rounds are #4 buckshot just in case

I don't know too much about shotgun rounds. What does the #4 buckshot give you that the #6 shot does not?

Thanks,

Doug

...

sounds like many of the folks here have bought
houses in the middle of Zombie Town :)

...keeping like 3 weapons ready at bedside, with like 100+ rounds
in spare mags... seems a bit paranoid to me...

But that´s just me.
I live in a peaceful surrounding,
(where only the police get a bit violent every now and then.)

I believe in redundancy.

My wife and I keep an AR by the bed (condition 3) shotgun on a wall rack in the bedroom (condition 3) and we each have a handgun kept condition 3.

We're a little anal about keeping them out of reach and nothing in the tube because we have a son who is just turning four. The only thing kept with one in the pipe is my CCW that's either on me or in a lockbox.

I don't live in a bad neighborhood, I just have some strong opinions about human nature.

Springfield "GI-45" on the bedside table.

Next up, the 18-1/2" barrel Maverick 88

IF somehow I run those dry, then it is time for the Most Serious Artillery:

US Rifle Cal .30 M1 AKA "The Garand"

I have a .357 mag. revolver in a Gunvault mounted to my "tactical nightstand"

My carry piece is stored there as well, but I consider the revolver my "go to" weapon for home defense.....

why?

because I shoot it very well and it's a no brainer to operate and has plenty of power and then some.

and if the 158 gr. Hydrashock doesn't do the trick the "earth shattering Kaboom!" surely will. :neener:

I have several long guns to chose from, but choose to keep them locked up in an RSC in my basement shop.

It depends on what I'm defending from and where.
Primarily for people it's a G-22. It's just easier to grab and manage inside my house.

However, there have been times that I've stepped outside with a .375 H&H because some furry mook was trying to get into the smokehouse, chew the sewer covers, 4-wheeler seats, cedar trim on the corner of the house.

Oh.........And birdshot in the shotgun? That's to burn the arses of said furry mooks. Everything else that follows is 00 Buck and Brennekes.

Pit bull,100 lbs, lab mix 60 lbs, coyote/heeler mix 60lbs x2:evil:..................Followed by Remington 870.

I almost fell off my couch reading this. Furry mook LOL!

I usually keep a SP101 w/speedloader next to the bed. If not that, then my XD9 with a spare mag. The shotgun is loaded but locked in a wall rack. The tomahawk is sharp, and that is my true last resort weapon.

I'd prefer the XD full time, but the SP101 has CT grips, and if I don't have time to grab my glasses or Surefire, I want to be sure of hits.
