...when you forget and leave a full box of Silver State Armory 6.8 SPC OTM in your computer case.

The only frown was when I asked if I could get them back on the home. :).

Really hit and miss depending on the supervisory staff. If you opt out of the body scanners at some places it becomes an exercise in loudness and intimidation.

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

The premise that the equivalent of a strip search, or any general search for that matter, is consistent withe these words is preposterous.

We need to remind ourselves of that from time to time.

I refuse to fly, but if I absolutely HAD to, I'd take a puddle jumper from local fields. Longer, noisier, more scenic trip, and a lot less hassle, from what I am told.

I also hate flying due to the hassles involved, but sometimes it's unavoidable.

On a recent trip I forgot that I had a speedloader of .357 HPs in my bag. Luckily I only lost the rounds. Had to get out of line to return the speedloader to my vehicle. Cost me missing the flight, but I was able to get on the next one an hour later.

So they confiscated the rounds and would'nt let you take an empty speedloader?

A pilot friend of mine who flies for AA says do not do the full body scan. You are seen naked and the images are saved on a hard drive.

Shinbone: I think your pilot buddy may have been jerking your leg a bit, but then again I wouldn't put it past those government and government affiliated (and wanna be government like TSA) types in charge to do something stupid like that.

Everyone passing thru the security points should refuse the scan. Make 'em do the full pat down on everyone. That is the best way to make the pat down go away and make the xray machines pointless.

Ditto - on the full body scan. Refuse to do it or we will lose our rights to privacy. They are extermely intrusive and just do some google searches on the subject to inform yourself. There's no good reason to have them as they do not enhance security at all. Do you honestly think that an organized terrorist group would really try to send people through a line with a gun? No - they would just bribe or coerce some worker to get it past one of the numerous other entrances to the airport. There is no way to keep an area as large as the ATL (for example) airport sterile.

Yes! I was cutting it close to making the flight. Security was long, and by the time I was called aside and the police arrived, I had missed the flight. They confiscated the rounds. My options were they could take the speedloader, or I could mail it to myself at the overpriced delivery company, or I could take it back to my vehicle. Taking it on the plane was a no-go.

While I see the need for reasonable security searches, in the interest of both Private Property laws and the general public safety/security issues, I also think that these full body scanners are too much of an invasion. If you think those images ARE NOT saved to a computer harddrive you're naive. How else would they use the images against someone in a prosecution? And I'm certain that there are plenty of cell phone cameras in these rooms too. It's only a matter of time before these start showing up on Youtube and Facebook.

Notice that they won't scan minors. It could be breaking child porn laws.
He brought it up in the context that a couple TSA employees had posted a few online and were fired for doing it.

I think the new pat down regs are now in effect. It will be more of a grope down if you opt out of the scan.

I have not flown lately but that is what I have been told.

They wish to make it so problematic that it will not be worth the hassle to opt out and disrupt the smooth flow of things.

I have also heard the images are all stored and could probably find a source but I am not posting anything that might get THR or me in trouble with copy right infringement BS

Yep, I ran into the same problem (at Love Field also).. Accidentally left a box of .22lr in my bag... :/

So, be ready to have a $250 'resolution fine' from TSA in your mailbox in a couple months. Just for 'disturbing' the line. The guy inspecting was pretty polite, but apparently his supervisor or someone didn't like me :(

i flew twice this week, in and out of NY. No groping, no pat down; just good old fashioned magnetometertron or whatever it's called. No long lines and everyone was pleasant.

I heard DEN was a nightmare last week though.

Taliv I heard a woman with two daughters which went through Denver last week She opted out of the full body scan. She was groped by a male TSA employee and refused the same individual groping her 8 year old and 20 month old daughters. She said she would not fly again. I imagine there will be several who will just not fly. Hopefully this will be changed before the airlines go out of business. Guns need to keep it about guns; does anyone know now what TSA is carrying?

I am anti-TSA as anyone, but I have to call BS on this. Males grope males and females grope females.

Where did you hear this? As incompetent as the TSA is, I find it very hard to believe that a male TSA **** did a patdown of a female passenger.

Drudge report center of the page. I would post the link but no more links from me. Heading says, "TSA Fondles women" look and you will see it. In the broadcast she specifically said a male did her and she refused to let him do the same to her kids. Maybe it is just Internet hype I was not there.

The Drudge Report link goes to infowars.com. That's not exactly the bastion of responsible and truthful journalism... or of reality in general.

We flew out of Denver on Nov 2nd... security was tight, level "Orange" and I had a ton of stuff and went right thru without a hitch... my wife has had knee and hip surgery and had the full pat down due to metal parts ... she felt it was extermely down on everyone.

I understand the need for security, but the full body scanner is way over the line of what is acceptable.

I avoid flying to the extent practical.

As someone who did not wince at ever flying, I am now having serious reservations. Living on the east coast, it is easy to drive most anywhere one wants to really go. Florida is a good 18 hours. Back in the day, we would simply buy an airline ticket. Now, we make it a family trip and drive. Reminds me of the 60's and 70's when my folks drove all up and down the east coast with me and my siblings. This body scanner "thorough" pat down will drive people away from flying. Too bad I guess...
