Nothing wrong with a decocker model. I like how the CZ gently lowers the hammer to the safety notch. Unlike a Beretta that releases the hammer at full velocity with a loud metal slamming clack.

BTW, here's my ticket to admission into the CZ club. A CZ75D PCR Compact.

I never liked a decocker until my PCR. I actually prefer the DA from the half cock position. It seems to take away the initial "heavy" movement common to DA pistols. It's in between the SA and DA pulls. Very nice....

If you haven't tried the CZ decocker, it's worth experiencing. It is so different than the "dry firing" of a typical slide mount decocker, which releases the hammer hard and fast.

The CZ decocker lowers the hammer easy and slow. It makes a much quieter click-click sound while it puts the hammer on the "half-cock" notch, which is really like a 1/4 cock notch.

I am the proud owner of a CZ P-07. I think it could be one of my favorite handguns ever. I love everything from the no frills finish to the way it recoils. The gun is definitely a first class piece of work. To me it feels like a gun should feel.

It is a fetching piece and already has me wanting to add a Rami and possibly a 75 Compact or P-01.

All true, but that's something you can do with the standard DA/SA CZ, too: start from the half-cock notch. It shortens and lightens the pull on both models. (And, because of the firing pin safety -- which won't allow the gun to discharge unless the trigger is pulled fully to the rear -- it's equally safe in either model, even though you can't apply the safety.)

Thanks for that, Walt. I've done it for years fully expecting the PC crowd to descend on me from a black helicopter and make me return to full-hammer-down carry. In American gun lore for some reason the half cock notch seems to always be a pariah, especially for carry, but I honestly can't see a down side to it with the CZ 75B/85B series of service pistols. I think most of the adverse commentary on half cock carry prolly came from the 1911, BHP, and other similar guns.

If it weren't for the firing pin block on the CZs, it would SAFER in the DA/SA models than the decocker models, as the decocker models have only one hammer hook, not two, because one is removed on the decocker models to make room for the decocker mechanism. (Safer, but less safe than hammer fully down, if no FPB.)

But with the FIRING PIN BLOCK installed, its pretty much an academic discussion.

The CZ decocker models are intended to start from the half-cock notch; that's where the decocker leaves the hammer. But if you've got a decocker model, you know that.

This followed me home from the show today. I couldn't be any more excited to get it to the range!

Just today did I get my first CZ (CZ-82) and join THR. Good day all around. Very impressed with the quality, fit and function of the CZ. I was very surprised and pleased for an under $200 MilSurp weapon. Shoots like a champ, dead nutz accurate and just a joy to hold. I think I may be a convert. The bad news is I bought it for the wife to replace her .38 stubbie and she loves it too. I guess i will order another one tommrow.

Boy, that ammo is in the mag backwards. I hope he catches it before he tries to load it.

I'm guessing it's a safeguard against an AD at home. It's a no-no to keep ammo near your gun unless it's ready for duty. Maybe he did it for the pics?

I'm guessing that he put that in the magazine back wards intentionally, just to see how many people would notice. I hadn't considered the HK angle.
