Most ridiculous price for a gun

Getting awfully sick of seeing local sellers in Michigan ask $900+ for Keltec pmr30s. Worst part is that idiots have been buying them at this prices.

I DO consider most Rugers overpriced when it comes to quality for the money spent
Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Yep, and compared to the quality of the two makers mentioned, it isn't even close

I think that the guys that own Blasers do so for the same reasons some people own BMWs. Status. I mean really, you could get an amazing gun custom built for $5000.

Not in the shotgun world you can't - you're off by one or two zeroes..........

Too many here think price is everything and anything proceed more than they can afford is "overpriced" - t'ain't the way things work - most high priced guns are that way for a reason - whether it is totally handbuilt, or built to someone's exact requirements or decorated in a one of a kind engraving by a world-renowned master, QUALITY is not something you put a price on, but there is a reason why something like a Purdey costs what it costs

I think it is absurd what we, as Americans, are forced to pay for American surplus rifles.
The prices on Garands and M1 Carbines should be no where near what they are. It is a damn shame that I can buy surplus rifles from dozens of countries around the globe for a bargain compared to what I have to pay for a rifle made in my own country.

Is there something I'm missing here guys? SW fans; tell me why someone would buy that for $1,700.
The worst pile of ad rhetoric I've seen in a while. Funnier still, the last line reads:
Thanks for Viewing ! Jim Akers ("Weapons Specialist Retired US Army") !
somehow, I didn't expect to see:
Thanks for Viewing ! Jim Akers ("Apple Computer Marketing Department") !

Simple economics. Supply and demand. There are not enough M1s and Carbines to supply the people who want them, therefore, the price is high.

A lot of people, myself included, have no interest in foreign surplus firearms, and there are a lot of them. Hence, the price is low.

and neither is there price.

how many manufactures produce firearms that are as tough and dependable as ruger at a lower or equal price?

The thread is about ridiculous prices, and , IMO, Ruger has some guns that are absurdly priced for the (lack of) quality inherent - the 10/22 is a perfect example

I have had several Rugers that were neither "tough" nor "dependable" and their prices weren't that great either

I can get a Marlin 60 for a lot less than a 10/22
and on and on

Too many here think because a gun costs more than YOU want to spend then it MUST be overpriced - but then there are a lot of folks who also do not understand why a Ferrari costs what it does or a Jackson Pollock painting, etc.

And some will learn why, and some will never see it, and others already know

Model 60 low price with a quick search was $160-165, 10/22 $214. Ridiculous prices is an "IMO" topic, but IMO that's not that ridiculous.

You are right about the 10/22 but I think top to bottom Ruger's has the best price to quality ratio of any gun company. They produce many, many different guns and most are better quality than their price counter parts. ESPICALLY in handguns

The Ferrari I get, but the splatter "art" by a hot headed alcoholic I don't. I wouldn't want that garbage hanging on my wall for free, yet people pay millions for his stuff. Whatever.

I'm not a big fan of selling my firearms. For the ones that are self defense weapons (and not range toys) or hunting weapons, I've got a lot of time and energy and ammo invested in determining they are reliable and work flawlessly. I wouldn't want to sell it (i know itbworks well) and if I did I'd likely want what I paid if not more.

There is so much garbage out there that people who are uninformed buy for 5 times what they are worth, that it makes me sick to look at some of these gun trading websites.
Novice shooters think the more it costs, the better and more accurate it is. One of the largest misconceptions in our sport.
The difference is like that of a one thousand dollar stereo system vs a $100,000 dollar one.
Unless you are a Bat, you aren't going to hear much of a difference if any. Same with guns, a 700 dollar 1911 and a 7000 dollar 1911 to the average person will yeild the same results. It's bragging rights for the most part, although we all like a few nice things, when something just gets so out of control that it makes no sense, it probablly is time to re evaluate the purchase. Unless money is no object. But when I see people selling $5000 dollar guns to pay rent, it kind of shows that they had their prioritys mixed up.
Everything should be in balance. if the kid has his or her college paid for, and the house is paid off the cars ar in good shape, and you still have extra money that you aren't going to need for an emergency, my philosophy is go spend it on a nice gun. But when you are living month to month and get a few bucks and go blow it on a gun that isn't a priority, and you don't have money to pay bills and put the kids through some kind of school. it becomes an addiction.

I was at a swap-meet in the mid 2000's.

A gentleman had a Mosin Nagant M44 for sale. The stock was black and greasy looking, as though it had been refinished with used motor oil. The going price for an M44 at that time was what, $70 or so?

He wanted $300 for his "WWI Swiss Navy Nazi Mauser Enfield" or some such string of nonsense. I thought it was funny.
