What's wrong with me?

I have about 4 guns I wanted to sell that I never shoot, don't need, and would not miss that much.
- West German Sig 226 (my first center fire purchased when I was 21)
- S&W 686
- CZ Trainer .22 rifle
- Ruger 22/45 with full Clark conversion.

I would have sold them a year ago but never got around to it. Now is a perfect time to sell with the gun scare going on and prices going up. But, that panic psychology has caused me to change my mind and keep them in the safe.

Funny how our damn brains work. I'm kicking myself for not buying a bunch of stock back in the depth of the recession. I could be retired right now. Instead I'm sitting at work thinking about guns...

Later,
Dave

The same thing has happened to me. I never shoot my AK or Mini-14 and I wanted to sell them now while the prices are going up. But I am keeping them just in case.

This whole thing is making me:

It has been sort of cathartic for me. I had gotten up to 40 pistols. I have recently sold 4 of them that I had no strong attachment to. It lets me buy more of what I like (1903 Colts!)

I've been sitting here today staring at my P226 sitting on my desk and debating whether or not to sell it. I absolutely adore it, but it's too big to comfortably carry and it's not one of my regular range guns so it doesn't get much use.

I say sell um

Unless your REALLY attached to them,or they are your go to if the SHTF,then unload um while the price is high.

I do not see it staying as high when the flood gates open and they start making and shipping guns again.

I could be wrong and you might never ,ever get to buy that gun again.

But so far that has not happened and the panic buying that has prices a SKS at over $750.00 is too silly to stay.

Sell 'em now that the price is high. An AWB is unlikely to pass. These $2,500 ARs are going to be worth $800 again...

Dave, you have what is known in the medical profession as Armory Disorder. The best treatment involves long walks on the beach, regular orally administered doses of ethanol, and immediate separation from the items you are hording. I strongly recommend that you send your guns to me for safekeeping and storage while you recover from this.

A lot of folks seem to be willing to pay $1,800 for an $800 Bushmaster ORC. I saw a few of those at the range last week. They were looking to be told that they had gotten a good deal. I simply told the truth, "It's a nice rifle."

Wow, and me, I'm enjoying buying nice bolt-action hunting rifles, and reloading supplies. I don't have a clue what will happen regarding AWB II. If it passes, prices continue upward. If it doesn't pass, prices fall again.

Meanwhile, my M70s just chug along at their normal prices. My latest find, a new M70 Ultimate Shadow .243 Win for $399!! Oh, and I can find .243 Win any day for around $19 to $21 per box.

I suspect that all we are doing is creating self-fulfilling prophesy when we are willing to pay such prices. My next purchase is going to be an M70 in .30-06 Sprg. I'll keep what I have, and add as I can...slow and steady.

unless you put them on gunbroker or your local economy is different. I sent a PSL kit to be built this week, last week I decided to sell my other PSL, posted it local for $900 with a magazine and scope mount. All I heard were crickets. Posted a Ak parts kit, with a 80% reciver, all the 922 parts, rivets a magazine. number matching kit with barrel. All you needed to do was build it with nothing else to buy, $600. Again crickets. Posted my PSL kit matching with barrel, reciever, 2 mags, rivets. scope mount. $700 again no calls at all.
I did post a wasr10 AK with 2 30 round mags for trade. Got a C96 broom handle mauser that ive always wanted!
Posted a PSL, wasr10 AK47 with 6 low cap mags, a glock 17 with 3 17 rd glock mags, and a 33 rd KCI mag, the Ak parts kit with all the parts to trade for a project car... crickets,. I may as well just keep the guns. jim

I've sold 2 pistols and 2 shotguns in the past 2 weeks. 6 months ago, I couldn't give the pistols away, they both sold in 2 days. Go figure.

Sweet. I should go ahead and sell my S&W 686. It just doesn't work for me...the balance or something. I have tried to like it and put a killer trigger job on it by Clark Custom, put new sights on it and changed the grips.

I think I paid $300 and something back in the day. Probably put another $400 in it after that trying to like it. I should have sold it a long time ago. With this crazy market could someone give me an idea of what I should ask(high limit) in a buy it now on gun broker?

Actually, my last attempt to make it work is trying out some Pachmayr Presentation grips that I just won on ebay. If that doesn't work I'll sell it.

Since you can get the highest possible price right now for items you've been meaning to sell anyways it makes perfect sense to lock them in your safe and wait until their value comes down to then sell them ...

Nah, don't sell. You'll just spend the money on consumables, right?

Guns ain't consumables.

When ar's were through the roof prices I considered selling one of them. That would still leave me 3 complete and 2 complete lowers but I just could not do it. I lay them out and then imagine them but with one missing and it makes me sad. I would just want it back again. Its the same way with all my other guns. If I could not feed my children or pay my house mortgage that would be different. Until then my guns stay right where they are and more will come.

Man, I hope you're right...I love the positive attitude though.

That sure is a beautiful revolver. Me, I'd think long and hard about letting that one go, especially with the mods you've made to it. I have a 686+ myself, and while I don't shoot it much, it's one gun I won't be selling any time soon.

Yeah the $700 stripped lowers are not really happening anymore. Everything is more expensive than it was and will probably stay that way for some time. For a little while before the run on stuff quality gun stuff was just everywhere and pretty cheap. I think PSA was putting out just great bang for the buck products. It is all more expensive now.

I thought of selling my 629 classic or trade for an 8 hole M&P 357 mag. I just can't get a good handle on the 6 1/2 inch 44 mag. When I told my wife that I was thinking of trading in the 44 mag, she said "Just keep it for now, and get the one you want". Maybe she knows something that I don't?
