For the last few months I've been coveting a peacemaker with Thunderer style grips.

After looking around and not finding anything locally, I finally found and bought a Cimarron Thunderball. Cimarron offers a few models like this, the Thunderer which is made by Uberti, as well as the Thunderball which is from Pietta.

I own a few Uberti's as well as some BP Piettas, and in general I always thought Uberti was the better fit and finish, but after getting this little gem, I'm changing my tune.

The finish very good, the colors on the case are absolutely beautiful and rich, the grips are very nicely fitted and of very good quality walnut. The polish very good and the only machining marks I can see are on the inside.

The action is quite smooth, much better than the Uberti Cattleman I have which has a gritty feel primarily due to the hand rubbing inside the channel. The trigger pull is about 4lbs. But I think that after a couple a hundred rounds it will smooth down to 2lbs.

My only complaint is the roll engraved "Thunderball" on the left side of the barrel It should have been a lot smaller. Considering the barrel is onlt 3.5" inches, it literally covers the length of the barrel.

Other than this, I'm very pleasantly surprised and quite happy with the acquisition. We'll see how well I do with it at the range.

I have a Thunderer in .45 Colt, 5-1/2 in. bbl, high polish nickel finish. The action is smooth as it can be. The only problem is recoil does funny things on account of the birdhead grips. I started out with using the same load I like in my Ruger, 255 grain Win Super-X but I dropped down to a 200 grain cowboy load; works a lot better for me.

It's one of the prettiest guns I have, I'll never get rid of it.

I usually shoot cream puff loads out of my .45's I'm only killing paper at the range, so power loads are not necessary or even desirable (for me).

We'll see what the recoil feels like on this since its barrel is only 3.5". But I don't expect anything hard to handle.
