I'm thinking now about getting a stainless steel 5.5.inch barrel SA revolver in .357 mag. These are the two models i'm looking at:
The Cimarron Frontier or the Uberti El Patron
Both claim to be factory tuned and have smooth actions and triggers, and Wolf springs, etc.
I understand that the Cimarron Frontier has a little more polished finish. The Uberti El Patron has better quality grips. There are a few subtle differences between the two and they are priced about the same, but which is the better revolver based on your experiences?

I ALWAYS GO WITH CIMARRON; ALWAYS !! They are the ones who lifted the Uberti company form laughable silly looking guns with catalog numbers stamped in the frames to real-honest-to-God sixguns that now all these years later are the ones ALL the other imported guns are compared to. SO, are they perfect ?? HELL NO, but neither are you....or me.

I've handled the factory tuned Cimarron guns and they are excellent. That would be my choice, except that I don't like how wide they cut the rear sight notch.

I understand that Cimarron's Frontier models are made by Pietta. Gents, thanks for the input. This is the kind of feedback I am looking for. Come to think of it, all the Ubertis I have owned have always had some kind of tool mark or flaw in terms of aesthetics. What the heck, I am looking for a fine looking pistol that I'll just plink with on occasion, but more to just handle while I watch westerns and show off when friends come by. Something just nice to have.

I have a Uberti Cattleman New Model brass.
I absolutely LOVE that gun.

It's VERY accurate & had no tool marks or flaws.
(and the flyer was my fault, I knew it before it hit the paper.)

A very nice looking Cattleman. Good shootin' too! One of the challenges I have is whether be it gun shop or gun shows, I just don't see too many single action revolvers flow by. I may see a few, but never exactly what I want. I usually have to order it online and take a leap of faith that it is a nice specimen.

I recently ordered two Ubertis: One is a Taylor's Runnin' Iron, which has a less than stellar hammer groove job and a couple of small tool marks, and a Uberti Cattleman Callahan model, which has a noticeable tool mark on the cylinder and a ding on the wooden grip. Sure, both are outstanding shooters, but when I pay what these cost, I expect a little more quality. Funny thing is, I don't worry about that with the Rugers I have. Just sayin'. I have attached a pic of these two Ubertis.

Any additional input is welcomed.
