If you could only have one, which would you choose and why?

A. Brand new two tone CM9.

B. Older (Jan. 2006) PM9 with Black Diamond finish.

Please no, "I'd never own one. They're made in Korea by religious cultists," crap.

Please limit your choice to one of the two pistols listed AND please say why you selected the one you did.

I am a happy Kahr owner. If I had to choose between the mentioned two models I would go with the CM9.

Why? 'cause I likes stainless bestest :D

I have never owned a polymer framed Kahr although I've had an opportunity to shoot several hundred rounds through them.

However I do own a T9, two K9s, and a MK9. I like Kahr's and will probably buy a PM9/CM9 at some point.

You didn't mention prices so assuming about equal pricing and assuming the PM9 was lightly used I would probably choose it.

If the PM9 was more heavily used then at some point of usage the CM9 would become the more attractive gun.

There may not be a wrong answer here. :)

You might want to ask this question over on the kahrtalk.com forum. There might be issues with 2006 PM9's that I am unaware of.

I would go with option b my buddy loves his and shoots great and conceals easy.

I, back before the CM9 came out, chose the CW9 over the P9...mostly based on price. I wasn't planning to change the sights, figured I could just pick up and extra mag and didn't think the contouring of the slide made that much of a difference.

I made the wrong choice. The only reason I don't sell my CW9 and get a P9 is that I've had the trigger worked on and the slide lock beveled already

While I actually like the bi-tone of the CW/CM line, the coloring would have been the last thing I would have considered in a choice between the two...after all, it will be spending most of it's time concealed.

The Kahr is such a nice pistol to shoot, 1) I really regret not spending the extra money on the contouring of the slide and the roll marks. 2) The dovetailed front sight does give you more options in sight selection. It is more than likely that 3) you'll get an extra mag, so iit really isn't a savings. 4) The polygonal barrel really is nicer when it comes to accuracy and ease of cleaning.

One caution. I'd compare the two pistols side by side if you can. I think there was a trigger change sometime after 2006 that shortened the trigger stroke.

PM9. More sight options. Polygonal rifling. Nicer rollmarks. etc.
This is, of course, assuming the PM9 is in good shape and not significantly more expensive.

I would go with a PM over the CM due to being it being the "premium" of the two. I own a few kahrs (edc p380) and after handling a friends CM9 I really think the cheaper kahrs are not built as well.

PM9 hands down for all the reasons listed.
The CM line wasn't yet out when I bought my PM9. If it has been...I would have still gone with the PM9. ;)
Mine is the Black Diamond finish w/night sights.

I would likewise opt for the higher end PM9, provided it was in decent shape and functioned properly.

The PM9 underwent a design change in 2010 and became ⅛" longer.

The older PM9s are slightly smaller than the current PM9/CM9, Kahr previously reported the PM9 at 5.3 inches, now it's 5.42.

I would go with the CM9 because I shoot a lot of cast bullets. The polygonal rifling in the PM9 is not lead bullet friendly.

When Kahr made its changes to the PM9 in 2010, they didn't do a good job of documenting it or differentiating parts pre and post change. One of the problems that people with the older models ran into was ordering parts - like a recoil spring, for their older PM9 and getting the new spring, because Kahr didn't change over the parts number.

I'd go with the PM9, although I actually prefer the stainless slide.
Only concern I'd have is the s/n of the 2006 PM9...and if it was within the barrel peening range (don't remember what that range was, but my 06 PM9 was in it).

If it was one of the problem guns, it was probably fixed a long time ago. Mine was fixed shortly after I bought it, and has been my favorite ever since. I've also owned the PM9 longer than nearly anything, and I've probably carried it more than everything else put together.

I'd get the PM9 for now. You may never have a chance to pick up a 2006 PM9 with a black diamond finish again. not that I'm saying it's some rare and amazing gun. They just don't make that exact gun anymore.

On the other hand, some 9mm kahr models don't have enough clearance between the feed ramp and the magazine, so they constantly break magazine followers. For things like that, a warranty would be nice.

I wouldn't get to caught up in the barrel differences, and accuracy....
My CW9 is a very accurate gun, with thousands of rounds through it, if the "C" line up means "Cheap", they sure don't perform any less...;)

The $320 CM9s cam back in stock at grab-A-Gun so I bought one. I should get it at the end of next week.

I've had a PM9 and a CM9 and honestly I'd rather save the $$ and buy a CM9, the differences are minor really and both use the exact same frame and magazines.

PM9 Black slide with XS big dot tritium front & l tritium rear sights. At the time I picked this up there was nothing as compact and thin. It has grown on me.

I carry a PM9 with night sights and a 7 round mag, in the house, if I want real concealment, I use the flush mount 6 rounder
