Certain brands are allowing a buy one get one 1/2 off sale. I got a couple boxes of WWB 9mm fmj for .20 cents a round. Not bad.

Someone just had a thread on this. Many of us chimed in that we boycott Dick's since they blocked sales of AR15's after sandy hook when people were desperately trying to get their hands on one before the precieved ban.

Won't do business with them personally, but I'm sure some others on here appreciate the tip.

Not only that, but IIRC, Troy had a deal with them to be the sole distributor of Troy's AR style rifle...a deal that Dick's backed out on after Sandy Hook...and supposedly that Troy found out about in the news, at that.

Now, since then Troy has found their way onto a lot of people's boycott list as well, but Dick's is still the company that banned all AR type rifle (modern sporting rifles, evil black rifles, defensive carbines, whatever you want to call them)

Dick's location.....

A new Dick's went up near where I live(about 5mi away).
I never really saw any gun/ammunition deals or products that I didn't see at Gander Mountain or a Wal-Mart.
In the late 2012/2013 gun panic hysteria, the chain never had any handgun rounds so I didn't bother.
Dick's seems to draw the casual shooter or 1/2 gun owner who just wants a box or 2 of name brand rounds to use for home security or maybe range shooting 2/3 times a year.
I did see some nice Guy Harvey print T shirts & ball caps there. :D

Won't do business with Dick's, I'm done stepping foot in their door for their very public trashing of the 2nd Amendment by taking all the evil black rifles off their shelves. They decided to take a stand against an inanimate object, I'll take a stand against them, and I'm vocal to everyone I talk to about Dick's. I'll let all the polo wearing golfers support the store, they are not getting one red cent from me, even if they have $12 550 count .22 lr.

They might as well have taken all gun related items off their shelves as far as I'm concerned.

Last time I went to a Dicks ammo sale on 45 ACP, not in stock but they tried to sub 45LC for it!! Guy put up a good sales pitch....no knowledge of what he had.I simply declined and go elsewhere.

45LC for the price of 45ACP would be quite a deal if you had a 45 LC revolver.

I don't really need much ammo. I feel Dicks can do what they want to in their store int terms of choosing products to sell. Needless to say, there are plenty of retail stores selling ARs inclucing Walmart.

Of course they can not sell what they don't want to sell.

And we can not buy where we don't want to buy.

I have two big stores nearby - Dicks and Gander Mountain. I won't step in Dicks doors after a couple of sour experiences. Most recent was window shopping for safes. I went to Tractor Supply and got one. Nobody would help me out on the floor at Dicks. The other time I saw an nicely priced lightly used SP101 in the case and patiently waited for a salesperson to finish shooting the breeze with his friend at the register. When I did get his attention, I asked to see it and I was actually going to buy it but the phone rang and after waiting another couple minutes it didn't look like he was gonna get off the phone anytime soon so I left.

At Gander, I always get great service but the prices are a bit high. I have bought stuff there anyway because I got good service. Most of my gun stuff come from a local Mom and Pop type gun shop though because of their more professional service and knowledge.

Thanks for the heads up but i don't shop there either. Years ago I asked if they had any ammo for my sks. They clerk replies they didn't sell "military calibers". Then I told him he better hide the 9mm, 45, 223, and 308 then left.

They also sold boxes of 20 shotshells for a slightly lower price than 25. Not realizing the difference my dad bought a few boxes only to find out when he got home.

I don't know if they have 22lr now, but my local Dick's got an alleged 1 million rounds this summer. They had enough to last a couple of days.

Good to know. Thanks for the heads up. Dicks was always a good place to buy shotgun shells by the case and 22 lr bricks. Good prices on 9 mm and 45 ACP too.

sale at dicks

1st visit ever to dicks sporting goods yesterday, ammo sale? The only .22lr they had was priced at 12.95 for a box of 50! No thanks! Will not be back!

Dick's is a great store if you want to pay $75 for some Nike sweats or $350 for a pair of boots. They are generally extremely over priced throughout the store in my experience.
I tried to buy a safe at two different locales a couple of years ago. It was like trying to buy a suppressor! I wound up buying one at Gander in about 20 minutes.
They sell deer stands at about $100 more than other stores and then do a buy one get one 1/2 off late in the year. No thanks!
When I am looking for a $100 pair of compression shorts I will think about them.
The refusal to sell ARs and such was just a nail in the coffin for me and I tell anyone that will listen.

Rats! I just took advantage of a sale at Gander that wasn't quite this good. I have never found Dick's to have a lot of ammo. I will check it out. If they have brinks of .22lr (or anything else I need) I will buy.

When the Dick's opened in my area they mailed out coupons good for $10 off purchases over $25. So I picked up 2 boxes of Hornady 17 HMR, which at the time was priced at $15 per box. My coupon made it an OK deal. But, at check-out I was surprised when the checker asked me if I was a legal citizen; the question apparently reflecting a store policy. I asked the guy if he thought illegals would actually answer the question honestly. He smiled and said, "I don't make the rules." I've gone there 2-3 other times to buy fishing items, but their ammo and gun inventory is minimal and over priced. With Cabela's being just 25 minutes away, I'll skip Dick's.

They're doing the same thing at Field & Stream. All pistol and shotgun ammo buy one get one half off. They had some Remington .45 ACP 250 round boxes for $95. A decent deal. Double that for $150, pretty good.

Dick's is hit or miss. I picked up some 9mm on the coupon. I mainly go there for fishing gear. It is as cheap or cheaper than Wal-Mart and has a better selection. It doesn't help that it is closer as well.

At the "grand opening" of Dick's in my area (where they also had a "pre-Black Friday sale"), they had some pretty good deals on 5.56 American Eagle ammo. Basically, using the $10 coupons Dick's had in their circulars, the price came down to the equivalent of an "on sale" price at Natchez (minus the shipping).

Of course, the lowest price-per-round boxes were sold out (420-rd and 150-rd boxes of the 62-grain cartridges). They still had the 120-round boxes of 55gr ammo in the plastic "ammo can" for $39.98. I was disappointed that they didn't have the other volumes, but went ahead and picked up a box of the 120-round count (using a $10 coupon I got in the mail that only required a $25 purchase). I thought about it, and went back to Dick's to buy a couple more boxes (using the clip-out $10 coupon that required a $50 purchase). By then, they changed their store policy so that you could only buy ONE box of the remaining 5.56 ammo per visit. I went ahead and picked up some 12-gauge slugs at the typical exorbitant Dick's price to get the total order above $50 -- basically chalked it up to "free slugs" with the coupon.

Of course, they didn't have any of their advertised 325-round bulk boxes of .22 LR either...

Of course they can not sell what they don't want to sell.

And we can not buy where we don't want to buy.

That's funny Warp.

The point I was making was I simply don't care. Dicks can do whatever they want to. If I go into Dicks for something and they have it at a price I'm comfortable with, I buy it.

In my area, we have Dicks, a new Gander Mt (which still amazes me that they never had a store in that market before), a new Cabelas under construction (framed and roof about to be shingled), a new Bass Pro under construction (site prep now), Sportsman Warehouse, many Walmarts, lots of gun shops (many of which have or had really high prices on ARs and I don't visit them any more, not for anything), and several Academy's. So, in a year, things are really going to be interesting and certainly great for shopping for sporting goods.

I would rather stores be honest with their marketing rather than trying to take advantage of the market. If they decide they don't want to sell AR's, that's their choice. If they decide not to carry a certain brand of fishing rod or reel, that's their choice. Dicks is Dicks.... I mostly go there for fishing stuff or non-firearm related purchases.

Dicks that I have visited had been very slow to even sell ARs in the first place. Only when Remington started making their "MSRs" did Dicks begin to stock them.
