It might have been slammed shut which bent the top strap. That would account for the tapered clearance between rear of cylinder and recoil shield and the timing issue.
6.5/30-06
A 30 cal. bullet was fired in 6.5 m/m barrel and just heavy recoil? Me thinks shooter would have been picking steel slivers out of his teeth! Sounds like an urban legend to me.
Simple Green
In the AGI DVDs Robert Dunlap is using SG to clean dis-assembled firearms which are then rinsed, dried and lubed immediately. It is not used as a substitute for bore cleaners, rust preventatives, etc.
kaboom
Not familiar w/Advantage Arms kit, but it looks like feed ramp too deep into chamber and/or out of battery condition. I doubt that any damage was done, but would be a good idea to have it checked out.
Savage Accutrigger
Visionary, does it literally "fire" or just release the striker? In the scenario you cited the sear tail will be released but will be "captured" by the trigger saftey thus not allowing the striker to travel fully forward to impact primer.
What "hunting" ISN'T
Hunting isn't: sitting in a tree stand or blind all day by bait or a feed plot waiting for your quarry; paying a "guide" to find your quarry for you; paying a "game" rancher to let you shoot a "trophy"; a "sport"; EASY. All these may be legal, but in my opinion...
bullet trap
I have a Snail Systems FRUGAL MODEL GF. If I had it to do over, I would buy the TABLE TOP MODEL GT has an easy access trap door to facilitate cleaning.
