I have a Sig P226 and a Kimber Raptor. Of the two, I'd go with the Kimber.
The 45 has a lot more punch to it, and I shoot more accurate with it.
Not to throw a wrench in the question, but my sawed-off 12ga is my primary weapon of defense.
I would only use a knife as a last ditch defense weapon.
In this scenario, how about a very hard kick to the BG's outer knee? If you could 'pop' the kneecap that is extremely painful and would inhibit the will to continue a fight.
In the past four years I've had two attempted break-ins by the BG.
Both times I was awakened by unusual growling or nervousness from one or all of my dogs. Normally I can fall asleep or go to sleep with any kind of background noise, and I'm a very sound sleeper. But, for some reason when one...
I only shoot pistols and revolvers for target practice. I was trained to completely clean my gun after it's fired. So, I field strip each gun down to the springs and clean everything everytime I shoot. The patches from the barrel have to come out white, with no residue whatsoever.
When I...
Diversity is more fun. I can shoot fairly well with any of my guns. I like the idea that I can pick any type of gun, and be able to hit a target with some accuracy. I admit I'm no sharpshooter, but I have fun just shooting in general.
No kids in my house. Never under the pillow. I keep my handgun loaded in my sock drawer, two steps from bed. If 'more' needed, sawed off 12ga just inside closet loaded with 00 buck. If that fails, 3 very large irate dogs, always with me.
My Nephew has the Stoeger coach gun and it kicks like a mule.
I have a Browning BSS that has a single trigger which I prefer.
It's really just a matter of what's easier for you. I find the single trigger more natural for my finger and I don't jerk the gun as much as with double triggers...
I don't think it's a good idea to have your first two shells of birdshot. I'd rather see the first two rounds of FMJ, then the other three JHP. If you're using your snubby for defense, why would anyone want to just scare or wound an attacker? If you do shoot, you shoot to kill.
That being...
I prefer shooting games on my PS3.
My fav are, Brothers in arms, Hell's Highway: WW2 action vs Nazis.
Weapons: Allied - M1918A2 B.A.R.
M1 Garand
M1A1 Thompson
M1A1 Carbine
Colt .45...
I'm 45 miles Northwest of Chicago. I live in what was once a small town, originally population was just 1,000 people, but now has grown to 8,000.
The Burbs are ever-growing out here, seems like people are trying to escape the City. Funny thing is that where I live right now, with houses all...
I have a Kimber Grand Raptor, and I love this gun. I've had 1900 or so rounds through it. The only feed problems I ever had was using Wolf ammo. So, I no longer use the Russian stuff, now it eats only Winchester, which function perfectly.
And like was said before, my Kimber is more accurate...
After I shoot my 45, I'll run the Bore snake through the barrel once just to get it somewhat clean, at the range. Then when I arrive back home, it's field stripped and cleaned thoroughly. I really like my guns to be clean at all times, even if they haven't been shot for a period of time.
You...
Your post is a good reminder to all of us, make sure that your gun is unloaded.
Sometimes it's easy to be complacent, but the handling of all firearms must be cleared and double checked making sure the gun is empty.
I'm glad that your injury wasn't life threatening, and that you have...
One movie that comes to my mind about the BS in movies, is Winchester '73. It starred Jimi Stewart. In one scene he supposedly uses his lever action rifle to shoot a hole through a coin flipped into the air.
I saw a picture of that particular moment being filmed, Stewart is standing on...
