    Can anyone ID this animal?

There were several reported sightings and confirmation by the game wardens that there was a mountain lion in Westford MA a few years back. They never found it. It happened again in a couple of other towns after that. Popular belief is that it was released by some fruit-bat as an exotic pet...

    Remington Peerless

I have a chance to buy a used (95%+) Remington Peerless O/U for $650. Seems like a good price to me, but I've heard that there were some quality issues with the gun while they were in production. Can anyone elaborate on problems with this gun? I don't want to spend good cash on a lemon. Thanks.

    Remington 11-48 Question

S., I think this is your problem: Hammer is not locked back and the metal piece on the right side has ridden up into the receiver. I just did it to mine. Give my last post a wing and you'll be in good shape.:D

why yes, a 6lb 12ga with a hard plastic buttplate kicks a bit, why do you ask?

The NEF/H&R single shots always kicked like a mule. light weight and a very low comb used to bring bruises to my shoulder and tears to my eyes as a kid shooting clay pigeons with a 20 ga. with a recoil pad. But the 10 ga. is so heavy that I don't think it kicks like that 20 ga. The barrel is...

    screw on compensator

They're like the old Cutts Compensators and Poly Chokes (I guess). Except that they take choke tubes instead of twisting the end to your desired choke. I don't think that they ever did much for velocity, recoil, etc...except that they were the precursors to the choke tubes we have today.

    Remington 11-48 Question

S., Check that the two rods/bars attached to the bolt are seated in the spring cup (that's inside the buttstock). You'll have to compress the spring with a finger and try to pull the rods up to it (I use a dental tool). When you reinstall the trigger assembly, have the hammer back in the...

    *** over

looks to me as something from a 3rd world country. Used for AA. One guy would keep the gun on his back, with the shoulder straps, whlie the other would fire it at aircraft. Any older vets out there with an idea??

Have you ever been shot at for no good reason?

1st time was having my dad's decoys shot at (and right over our heads) when I was a kid....dad returned fire and we split. 2nd time was in the old 'Combat Zone' in Boston. 4th of July and some punks were trying to sell me and my buddy, with our girlfriends, fireworks..then pot...then any...

    Remington 11-48 Question

Remove the barrel and recoil spring. With a brass punch, drive (remove) the two pins from the receiver. Remove the trigger assembly. Remove the metal (guide) on the right side (falls out) You will see two bars that connect to the rear of the bolt. These are further inserted in a spring in...

    trap and skeet

Alot of people use 'shuck-o-matics' for trap and skeet. The only thing you would maybe want to do is get a shorter barrel with the Remckoke, and buy a skeet choke for it. It is not what you have for a gun that makes you a great shot, it is how you shoot that makes you a great shot.

    30-30 for trophy hunting?

You can kill anything with a rock if you get it pinned to a fence. Show me a real deer that you can't buy in a grocery store. :neener:

    Switching Sides

It's not if you can afford the 28 ga. It's if you can afford the shells. Got to reload them if you shoot in quantity. But it can be a 'motivator' and possible exercise if you use a single stage press.

    12 Guage - 2 3/4" or 3" shells

Go with the 2-3/4" Brenneke. There is negligible difference between a 3" ane 2-3/4" slug. Depends on how you shoot one vs. another.

    Switching Sides

I, too have shoulder problems. Right handed, and my right shoulder falls out from time to time. I have lost alot there also. But when I shoot alot, I use lighter reloads (7/8 oz. 12 ga.) and have mercury recoil reducers in my skeet guns. You could try that. And/or switch to smaller gauges...

How bad are cheap over/unders ?

True story: About the third time I went to the skeet range after getting out of the army, I brought along a Sportsman 48 in 16 ga. I had already shot with other that were there at prior times, and there were two guys there who I hadn't met before. One had a Perrazzi, and the other had a...

Detroit teacher carrying hammer for protection

How about a mason's hammer, or a roofer's hatchet (hammer)? I'd think of one with a fiberglass handle so it could be cut down. A few wraps of hockey (friction) tape for a new handle and you'll be able to swing real close like.....

    Camo Boots?

    Dog dont like feathers

I had a lab that would do the same thing. Retrieve everything, but never a bird. She'd swim circles around ducks and wait until I got out there to get it. Never lost one. She was a damn good dog.

    American Co. double barrel shotgun

I wouldn't shoot that one. I suspect that it has damascus (twist) barrels. The gun may be worth about $200 to someone. check out the auctions at gunbroker, they'll give you an idea.
