    Mystery Tools

Hello all, I found a couple of tools in a catch all box I purchased at an auction. They appear to be factory made. The tools were mixed in with some other gunsmithing items. My gut says they could be some sort of shotgun tool. One tool has: O.F.M. P/N F-3647 and the other has...

    TL-15 Question

Here are some more pics of the TL-15 safe. One thing I noticed about the door. It was very smooth in operation but the inertia of 700 lbs of door gets your attention. One certainly would not want to have a finger in the wrong spot.

    TL-15 Question

I am looking at a used safe that I cannot find a brand or manufacturer on the safe. There is a BP-1000 badge with a UL TL-15 reference on it and a UL BP-280 badge with relocking device reference. The construction is 1" plate for the body and 1-1/2" plate for the door. I can't tell if it is...

Thumb Screws How to keep it snug

You might try to put a piece or two of monofilament fishing line in the fastener to create a poor man's Nylock.

Recovering The Combination on a S and G Lock

A relative of mine recently purchased a used safe with a S and G lock and no combination. The door was off the safe and the back was accessible. We removed the rear cover on the lock and after a little work, we came up with a combination that seems to work fine. If It was an option I would...

Where to get Tritium for Armson OEG sight?

I just received one of ofitg's adapters and was very impressed. His solution to this problem is elegant and practical. It was easy to install and I like the fact that with this adapter, the user can service the lamp themselves. Now I am kicking myself for passing on an old OEG at the last...

    Sargent and Greenleaf Dial

I am wanting to replace the Sargent and Greenleaf lock on gunsafe and I do not know how the dial attaches to the lock through the safe door. Is this something that can be done at home or is strictly for professionals? Thanks,

    Best slingshot ammo/projectile?

Atomic weight is not the same as specific gravity. Tungsten's specific gravity is around 19.6, lead's is around 11.34, bismuth is around 9.75, and steel is around 7.85.

    Remington 11 bolt

One thing you might want to check is the chamber length. I had a Remington 11 that had a 2-5/8" chamber.

Mini-14/30 Scout Rail: Ultimak v Aimtech

Ranch Products makes/made a scout rail that replaced the top part of the gas block. From what I recall, they were made of steel. They seemed a little crude in aesthetics, but strong. Midway lists them.

High quality combat shotgun. INDECISION!!! SXP vs BPS

Michiguns site shows a BPS that they have modified with a side loading port. I have no experience with this modification, but it looks interesting. It could be costly to have done and would probably void any warranties, but if I only had $212 in the BPS HC, it would be tempting.

    RSC Interior Re-model

I would like to help a friend out who wants to re-arrange the inside of an older RSC. It looks pretty wild right now with the orange shag carpet over particle board. I was thinking about replacing the thick particle board partitions with some thinner plywood to gain a little more volume inside...

    water stained stock question.

Years ago in the paint business, I remember people using an oxalic acid and water paste on the moisture blackened areas of wood window sills and frames and allowing it to dry. The residue was then brushed off. I have not seen oxalic acid in a hardware or paint store for years. There might be...

    Action type and physics

I am having trouble with the bullet drag explanation and the effect upon the function of the 1911. If the barrel/breach, and cartridge are isolated as a system, it seems to me, that when all the forces are resolved, the following occurs. There is the pressure or force pushing on the base of...

    Action type and physics

I do not know for sure, but I think trying to hold the bolt or slide shut with one's thumb, finger, or any other body part might not be the best thing to do. Having done it a couple of times many years ago finally "cured" me of it!
