10mm opinions??

I don't really care about looks so much. For years I thought Glocks were ugly and boring. Still do. But after you spend some time shooting them, they start to look better. Same with my XD40.
I do think I have solidified my choice if I can find one. Going with a G40 MOS.
I found one online at a store called Montanaguns, but I've got to do some checking to see if they are legit. If not, I'll keep looking.

I don't like the way they feel, really. Often when I say "looks" it's because I'm sizing up the way a handgun will feel by the way it looks. I've seldom been disappointed in my online purchases based on that. It's not so much about cosmetic aesthetics to me.There are alot of "ugly" guns that I really like the look AND feel of. I actually think Beretta PX4 Storm looks kind of weird, but I ways thought it would feel great in my hand and when I finally held one I found I was right. Same with my first handgun, a Bersa Thunder 45, that I bought online. I made one little blunder with that choice though; It turned out to be a sneaky little hammer-biter. I don't think I ever walked away from the range without a spot of blood between my thumb and index finger. But everything else about the gun was great in spite of being fat little toad, IMO. It was a tragic flaw I only could have known about if I had put a couple hundred rounds in before I bought it.

I will say that my RIA 1911 10mm has much less out-of-the-box felt recoil than my G20, which is in turn softer to shoot (by a smaller margin) than my G29. I was actually surprised at the recoil difference between the Glock and the 1911.

I guess I probably should have disclosed one of my ulterior motives in getting a 10mm. Mark_Mark may have goaded me a little, but 10mm was already on my radar. For one, I already have .40sw dies. I also am considering it for a bear defense gun. My son in law and I have been trying to get an Elk hunt scheduled for almost two years now. They were in North Dakota, but got sent back home when the pandemic hit and now he's been assigned to New Mexico. So eventually we're going Elk hunting somewhere and Elk country usually includes bears. I like revolvers and I shoot the 357 and 44mag very well. I can empty a .357 into a washing machine at 20yds in 5 to 6 seconds. I can put 10 to 12 rds of .45acp in the same time. I don't want a 45acp for bear defense. Actually I'm not really fond of 45acp anyway, but I believe I'm going to see a similar comparison between 44mag and 10mm.
10mm may not be quite as powerful, but I'd rather take my chances with 15rds vs 6. May not be the right choice for everyone, but that is some of the logic behind my desire for owning a 10mm and one of the reasons I'm leaned towards the Glock 40 vs other choices.

How’s that ugly?
I don't have hot blue capability, and can't afford to send it out to have it blued or DLC coated or whatever.

Maybe I've been hanging out on 1911 addicts site for too many years and have gotten a bit sensitive after hanging around those semi-full custom guns. It is just a home-built pistol. :)

Which model RIA do you have?

Don’t you know, the hot new look in guns is ^^^ that

Ok, well I'm striking out finding a G40, so I'm picking up my gen4 G20 on Sat.
So, next opinion quest:

Should I get the KKM 6" or Lonewolf 6.6" barrel to go in this G20?

I really like the KKM barrels I have. I only own 1 Lonewolf barrel, which is a 9mm conversion, and it's thoroughly acceptable.

KKM will make you any length barrel you want for a Glock. I have a 5.0" in my G20.

Have them Glock 40s gotten rare?

Haven't looked on Goonbroker recently.

A Glock 20 won't swing below your knees - you lose swagger points.

A Glock 40 with one of those 9" Lone Wolf Barrels would be the bees' knees.

Evidently G40's are not plentiful right now, but I've got notification requests in with Midway, RK, BP, and several others. So I'm still in the hunt for a G40.
In the meantime, found out today I have to work again on Saturday, so I took off in time to drive 1 1/2hrs and pick up my G20.:)
