10mm opinions??

Goaded nothing, you KNOW you need a 10mm.

I only have a Ultra HC 10mm that I use for trail carry, but I'm seriously considering a 10mm M&P. Other than the additional 6 rounds (which is substantial, I admit), is there any reason I should avoid the M&P 10mm? I carry a P365, G19 (4th gen) for social work and an RIA in 10mm for trail use. I'm at about 90% good with the M&P 10mm. Any serious complaints against the 10mm M&P?

I think the M&P 10MM is too new to get any good feedback on. I’m also interested in the 4.6” barreled pistol but they just hit the market and all I’m really seeing is promotion feedback at the moment.

Well, I didn't get time to do any real shooting, but I did get some ladder tests loaded up and got the last box of Fusion 200gr Hp from Lgs. I couldn't wait , so I went out in the dark and popped off a few of those 135gr frangibles Mark_Mark sent me just to see how they cycled.:) 10.0 gr of Hs-6, they cycled fine and recoil on those didn't feel any worse than my XD40. I suspect as I move up the ladder with 180's and those Fusion 200's I'll notice a difference.

you could just pop off in your back yard?

Come on out to W Tennesee some time. You can try out my range while sipping sweet tea on the deck:rofl: I pay my grandson and granddaughter 5c/case to pick brass up off the deck for me, unless the wife fusses before they get a chance, then I do it.:what::)

I’m going to take you on the offer! My brother lives across the river from the Giant Bass Pro

but I only drink Un-Sweetness tea

The 10mm is one of my very few most favorite handgun rounds. I like my 10mms in 1911 "long slide" persuasion. My two favorites are my 10mm Dan Wesson Briun and my 10mm Nighthawk "Henie Longslide". I understand that these might represent a price range where a lot of shooter don't want to, or can't go. In my case, I reached that place in "old fartdom" where the fanatical saving habits I was forced to learn are still in effect while the things that I pinched pennies to be able to pay for have either moved from the house and started their own life, of the thirtieth year of the mortgage that I swore would never end has come and gone. In short, the money is still there even though the reasons for it being needed are not. So, I knew right away where I wanted to put my extra bucks.

If you have ever wondered if either of these guns are worth it, let me say definitively. Yes they are. Every cent.

Love my Ruger SR1911 in 10mm. Pet load is a little over 10gr of blue dot with 180's. lost count of how many, but it's well over 5k of them. Started with 9# of it, but I'm almost out of BD and haven't seen it for awhile now, but I have a couple pounds of longshot to try next.

One of my LGS still has a P220 Legion 10mm. I seriously considered it, but 15rds vs 8rds swayed me to G20.
That’s correct, and I have the DA/SA Sig 10mm Match Elite model. Super-accurate and hasn't hiccuped once. The weight of the gun’s all-steel railed frame dampens felt-recoil when shooting the hottest, real-deal 10mm ammo. And ditto with my high-performance handloads.

That said, the two drawbacks afflicting Sig’s line of 10mm P220s are, first, the weight; second, the stingy 8-rd mag capacity. Hell, my old S&W 1006 offers 9+1 capacity and is noticeably lighter as well when carried.

Interestingly, had Sig engineered the 10mm P220 to run on an all-steel P227-size frame, then the weight would've been justified by the boost in magazine capacity. Plus, I thought the grip-ergonomics of the P227 were pretty good for a large-frame double-stack gun. The .45acp 227 held 10-rds, so likely a 227-style 10mm mag would’ve held like, 12- or 13-rds. (Add a +1 in the chamber for a resulting 13- or 14-rd load-out).

My very 1st 10MM was the 1006. Built like a tank and took anything I fed it. Just got too heavy on the hip climbing up and down ridges so I moved to the G20.

Sadly I made the mistake and sold the 1006 to fund the G20.

Does the SIG SAUER P220 10mm have a decocker function in the SA/DA version?
Yes. It has the classic Sig decocking lever common to the DA/SA line of P220s (and other P- models, e.g., P228). Here's mine:

My anticipation with that version is that the safeties are all internal in SA/DA model?
You mean like with the three "internal" safeties on a Glock?
