What's a Russian SKS worth these days?
I went to the local gun shop earlier, and saw a Russian SKS sitting on the used rack. It looks to be in good condition mechanically, matching numbers from what I could see (except the stock), 1954. The problem is; someone painted it black- stock and everything. The stock is Russian too: I can make out the markings under the thick paint. The bayonet is also missing.
I'm pretty sure it would clean up nicely (I'm pretty good at that kind of thing), and I've always wanted a Russian SKS. I really can't justify spending the money right now, though. Is this a good deal I can't pass up, or should I pass? Also- anyone know where one can find a blade bayonet?
