1971 marlin 1894 lever action .44 mag carbine.
The story:
The place I work at for 30 years now has an old lady that's been coming for 20 years climbing into our wood
Scrap dumpster to get wood for her crafts. A few years ago we got a big roll off and it's like 10' tall and now
She can't climb and get into it anymore. She calls today and asks if we would be interested in trading some
Wood for an old rifle. The secretary sends the call back to me cuz she knows I'm a gun guy, I say let me see
It, I go check it out and we make a deal for some walnut I've had sitting around for 25 years!
She says the gun has fired 20 shots since she bought it brand new in 1971.
10 shots for practice, and ten shots for ten deer she shot over the years!
These marlin carbines start around $1,000 and one this nice and little used probably about $1,500.00
There is a list of rare guns I always ask for when I visit gun shop, that list just one gun shorter.

I love mine and that's a nice rifle, but if you can get 1500 for it I'd sell it now! Are they seriously getting that high? I would have thought 650-900 was the going rate.

But really, that's a sweet trade. I keep hoping to some day find a nice deal like that where everybody feels like they won big, but really I won big :)

ive bid on and lost several at 1K, this one has 20 shots through it and comes with a 40 year old box of ammo with 20 rounds missing. it may be worth the higher amount but its not for sale. :)

But where's the 1913 rail, and red dot?:D

That's an awesome rifle. Hey, I've got a downed maple tree in the backyard. I wonder if anyone would give me a rifle for it! (not holding my breath)

You can find them cheaper than $1500 for sure, maybe not on an internet auction. Last time I was in Greentop they had one, pre-safety, new but no box, still had the label on the forearm for $800. Gun shop up in Newville, PA on same trip had a mint one for $850. Nice guns, but the ones I'm seeing are not at the $1K mark yet.
