Nobody has mentioned the Sigma. You can get a new one for a little over 300.00. But, the prices are going up, so anyone wanting one should act now!

To be honest I am seriously looking at either a Makarov or a Bersa in .380.

Tell me, how easy is it to find 9x18 these days? Can you pick it up in any old gun store?

You're in Richmond, so you know where they Showplace is in Mechanicsville? Every 3-4 months, C&E holds a monster gunshow there. Lots of dealers there with 9mm Mak ammo for good prices. If you can't find the ammo locally, I'm sure you can pick up a bunch at the Showplace. Other shops in the area that should have it is Dark Sun Surplus and Patriot Services. They both carry lots of military surplus guns so they should have the ammo too. I've dealt with Dark Sun several times and they have very good prices. They get a little cramped at the shows though for precisely that reason. I just make day trips into the Richmond area for these shows, so I'm not really up to speed on all the local shops.

Oh, I have 2 S&W Sigmas. A 9VE and a 357V. I find them to be excellent buys and reliable weapons.

My $0.02

First, I have to agree with RodneyKSig when talking about the price of CCWs. I recently received a NIB Hi-Point C9 as a gift. Expecting the worst from a $150 9mm I headed to the range. After several weeks and 850 rounds (cleaned after each) it's now sitting at the manufacturer's plant waiting for repairs. I'd say it's broke-in alright!

Anyway, I've found that if you have $400-500 you can get a quality firearm from any number of manufacturers. The best thing to do is fire as many weapons you can and let your experience with the weapon be your guide. What works fine for the next person may not be the best thing for you.

I myself bought a used Glock 19 with trijicon night sights, hogue grips, an extended mag release, and 2 15-round magazines for $450!! This gun is in perfect working order and I fire it weekly. For that reason alone I can highly recommend purchasing a used Glock. Have someone check it out for you if you're unsure (with any gun really).

I turn 21 in a month too!! whoooo Everyone is expecting me to be all excited about being able to go out and drink, and all i care about is which gun im going to buy, LOL.

Anyway... I think ill be buying two actually. One will be the bersa 380, and the other will be a FNP-9. :)

Forget about brand names. Go to the biggest gun shop, or gun show you can find, and pick up and handle everything you can. A few of them will "feel right" to you. Research those, THEN go buy one. If you end up with something you haven't handled, you may not be comfortable with the firearm, and you won't shoot it enough to become proficient with it. You'll end up selling it at a loss.

Go for the BERSA...

For around 400 you can get a very nice BERSA in .380 ACP AND a second one in 22LR...That way you can have double the fun with two very nice guns!:D

Greetings from the Land of the Incas !!!!
