I also found these at Walmart for $15 a box, I may have to go back and get a few more.
Cheap for target grade ammo.

i thought i would post a couple of photo's of my gsg AK47 i have just put the scope and scope mount on it,the scope is a bec 3-9x28, i have just got my rifle back after i had to send it back to ATI for repair :banghead: because it had loads of fte's turned out that the ejector was lobbing the empty case's in to the cocking handle and they were bouncing back in to the bolt face  and causing 1 out 3 empty case's to fte, iam looking forward to using it at the weekend as i havnt had the chance to go to the range yet i have 1000 rounds to go to the range with

Hmm, I missed this one. I can't remember Feb of 09. Must have slept through it.

If you had read it, you might have added a couple more .22s to your list. :D

It's not too late, you still can.

guess I just don't much care for 22 rimfires.... ??
I only have 16 of them (19 if counting WMR and HMR also)
about 50/50 on rifle/handgun count
mostly partial to Browning 22 rifles, Ruger MK pistols, and S&W revolvers

Well im hooked thats for sure.
Ive been trying to keep my guns to a limited number due to my low fixed income and not bury myself and be broke constantly.
I call my rimfire guns "fun guns" as i don't really use them for anything but range and target use, But i hope to squirrel hunt for the first time in 28 years and the last time was when i was 11.

So i try and pick fun guns with specific goals in mind.
Ruger MKIII 22/45 is my only .22lr pistol and is great for non magnified 50' shooting on the cheap.

S&W 15/22 with a 3-9x40 Nikon Buckmasters scope and Bushnell TRS-25 angle mounted red dot for rapid fire with both eyes open. Its also pretty darn accurate with subsonic ammo at 50 yards. But can be inconsistent.
But for blasting out Federal bulk ammo and shooting the crap out of everything this gun rocks.

Savage 93BTV17 .17HMR which isn't a .22lr but a rimfire none the less and you need a very expensive .22lr and excellent ammo to beat this gun at the range.

But to compete with my .17HMR im buying a Savage MKII .22lr bolt action and adding a CenterPoint 4-16x40 to keep up with my .17
Why buy a .22lr to compete against a .17hmr when its very hard to beat accuracy wise and you need expensive ammo thats close to .17 ammo prices?
Because its fun to play with all the ammo choices the .22lr offers.

Sure i can buy any box of ammo of the shelf for the .17 and shoot sub 1" groups all day at 50 yards. But you gotta spend hours testing .22lr ammo and sighting each in and then switch to another ammo and start it all over again.
Its a challenge and i like that.

But i know when i go tree rat hunting hopefully this fall ill most likley take the .17 as i gotta see a head shot at 2500 fps with a ballistic tipped bullet.
But eventually im sure ill be using both guns for it.

I am new to this club with my first .22, a GSG AK. I am going to take a serious look at the GSG-5. Maybe then a handgun. Not sure whether a revolver or pistol would be better. Maybe a Walther P-22?

Wound up trading some stuff with a guy I know locally and wound up with a slightly "bubba'd" Anschutz 1451ST entry level target rifle. The "bubba" came in where a previous owner (not the guy I got it from), decided to drill & tap the receiver (it's already grooved for a scope or aperture sights anyway) and got the front set of holes almost an eighth of an inch off center.

I got it with no sights and temporarily put an old POJ scope on it while waiting for my new glass to get here.

Wow, by far the best .22 rifle I've ever owned. Even with the fuzzy image due to crappy focus on the scope and Federal 38 grain hollow point bulk pack ammo from Walmart, I managed to keep 5 shots tight enough I could cover the group with the neck of a .308 rifle cartridge using a block of heavy foam for a front rest. Oh yeah, this was on our indoor range so I didn't have to contend with any wind.

I'm at work, so unfortunately, no pics!

My first .22 was a Winchester 52, which I'd like to have back!

Currently, because there's always room for more, I own an Anschutz 1407 (my favorite).

When I'm on the pistol range, I have my Daddy's Hamden High Standard - another piece of perfection!
