Hi, I am seeing some Prvi Partisan and some of the XM193 Lake City Military .223 ammo around. Both seem to be aronud the same price. I am wondering, for AR-15 guns, such as Rock River 16" and DPMS 16" barrel rifles, which brand would you prefer shooting? Is there any other in the 0.40 a bullet price range you prefer more than the two I mentioned? I also see PMC, usually for cheaper, but I am told its inferior to XM193.

XM193 is military 5.56. PRVI is overall well-rated. I've heard nothing but good stuff about PMC, and they offer one of the few boattail .223 loads out there. When I stocked up on .223 ammo for my Saiga, I bought a 1000 round case of PMC FMJ BT for $350 shipped. That was before current prices, though.

Widener's Reloading has a good price on Prvi PPM855, but have recently sold out of XM193.

I bought 600 rounds of 193 and it shoots well.

it's not the same, but I use prvi 75gr HP BT Match in my ar15, and it's the most accurate stuff I've found for it. even the 55gr prvi was exceptionally accurate. at least as good as xm193. depends if you want to buy american!

XM193 Lake City Military
XM193 is a commercial version of the M193 military load.

It is not, and never has been a military load.

This from Federal/ATK, which runs the LC plant:
"XM193 ammunition is 5.56mm contract overrun material. It may not meet all of the mil-spec requirements, however, it does meet all requirements of commercial ammunition for pressure, form, fit and function."

PPU. It's more accurate out of my rifles than XM193.

Me and a buddy did a 4 day rifle class 2 years ago using PPU. No ammo related problems at all. He did have to junk 3-4 USGI aluminum mags that quit working...

I've never had much luck with PMC personally, it's been about as accurate as Wolf. Plus there is this: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=423279

Would you consider 0.43 a bullet an ok price for Prvi Partizan? I have found the XM193 for the same price. I have been looking for good deals, but this is the best I can find.

prvi m193 was $319/1000 and $329/1000 at ammunitiontogo and wideners before the election (but i don't remember which was which)

i've shot several (3000 i think) rounds of it this year, including one of pat roger's carbine classes. no ammo related issues i can remember.

My local store has it for $379 a thousand.
Where's your local store, do they ship?

I am checking out ammunition to go, its $400 for thousand. They also have Match hollow point for $500 , I guess I may go ahead and get it here.

I just bought a bunch of 69 grain Prvi match from aim at a decent price...i cant wait to get it. From what ive read/researched its fairly accurate stuff.

Would 69grain shoot decently in my 1:9 twist AR-15 barrels? I was told it is better with the lighter grains, but I see a lot of match grade ammo uses the higher grained bullets. I was also considering getting the 69gr Prvi Partisan Match BTHP bullets.

I see both 55gr and 62gr Prvi Partisan for sale. For my DPMS Sportical 5.56 and Rock River Tactical Carbine A4, which would be the better one to get? My barrels are a 1:9 twist and 16 inches. I think the Rock River, is some what more like an M4. Anyhow, I seem to be able to get both for the same price, but not sure which to get.

So, from hearing most reviews, I will just take it that Prvi Partisan is superior in quality to Lake City/American Eagle XM193?

Perhaps if I bought 500 rounds of each, would it be the best or just go for 1000 of the Prvi? I can only buy the 62gr of Prvi in smaller amounts. I only see one seller selling 55gr of Prvi and its for 1000 rounds. Does anyone know any cheap sources of the 55gr Prvi or would 62gr be even better for my rifle?

i'd pass on the prvi 62 stuff. stick with the 193 if you can find it

Yes, a 1/9 twist can shoot up to 72-75 grain bullets well.

My RRA is a 1/9 which i ordered that 69 grain prvi match for, should do very well.

YEah, I am seeing some XM193 around. It would cost me around $430/1000 shipped. Should I jump on it or wait for something better? I always hear people say I should be able to get it for $300 or less, but I am yet to see such an offer, even Wolf I am lucky to get it for $280/1000. Do you think the 55gr Prvi is inferior to the XM193?

I shoot both PPU 55 and 62 Grain leader core from Wideners, 70 something per 200. Not much of a difference in my 1/9 rifles, slight edge to the 62 grain in accuracy. 55 is a few dollars cheaper, your call. It's good stuff especially since the price has been the same since before the election.

So, you would choose the 62gr Prvi Partizan as a superior ammo to the 55gr XM193 American Eagle Lake City Ammo? Some say one , some say the other. I am really confused as to which to buy. I wish I could get both, but I want to by in bulk to save on shipping. I am using it for plinking, not a shooting match. So, any other opinions if you had $430 to spend on 1000 rounds, and had to choose between the two. As far as finding it cheaper, I have no idea where you can get it cheaper. By the way, the local sporting goods store is selling HSM ammo for the same price, around 0.43 a bullet. WOuld people think this is a better ammo than either of the two?

I have found 62gr Prvi for $370/1000 + shipping. I am also finding 55gr American Eagle XM193 for $420/1000 + shpping . . i am still debating whether to go for Prvi or XM193. The Prvi seems to be the best deal I found so far. Anynoe think I should go for it and forget the XM193?

I recently starting shooting 69gr Prvi Partisan Match out of my 20" AR15, GREAT STUFF! Very accurate, somewhat clean load.

What twist does your AR have? I have also seen Sellier & Bellot for sale for good price, it is around $390/1000 + shipping . Anyone ever have good/bad experiences with this? From what I am reading on AR15.com I see that perhaps its worth forking out a little more for the XM193 Lake City. Well, I am debating whether to get it. Another $50 for better ammo. Of course, I really am not sure which is the bset. I am also reading that XM193 is not true milspec M193 ammo, that it is the rejects. What do people think of XM193 as compared to M193 ammo? Is Prvi Partizan, truly Milspec M193 ammo? I also wonder if a 1:9 twist barrel like mine would handle a 62gr load. I know that it would handle 55gr from hearing others who have shot it from my type of gun.

guys, you can stop freaking out now :)

prvi m193 is back in stock at wideners, still $360/k
(plus friggin 10% sales penalty for doing business locally :( )
