Sorry, I forgot to quote.
"Why?" To this, to hear personal experience and opinion. Because this...
...has been my limited experience. Though, I also think...
The 22 Nosler and 224 Valkrye are 1st cousins. They are both based off of the 6.8 case, both have 30° shoulders. The difference is the Valkrie case is shorter and the Nosler case is rebated. Also the Nosler barrels have a 1:8 twist, the Valkrye barrels have 1:6.5 to 1:7 twist.
Because of the differences, the 22 Nosler will always be faster, the 224 Valkrie will handle the long 90 grain and up bullets without single loading. The Nosler is the better varmint cartridge, the Valkrie is the better long range cartridge.
Personally I wish the Nosler had kept the 6.8 bolt head size like the Valkrye did. I am getting case swipe with the rebated rim. Nosler has modified the rim, it is now angled instead of square around the edge. This has supposedly stopped the case swipe issue. I can't say as I have not shot any yet.
I, as noted, have the Nosler, a friend swears by the Valkrye. Honestly the cartridges are about like 2 peas in a pod. He out shoots me at range. About the best I can do is 77 grains without single loading, of course he shoots the 90 grain bullets.
One issue with the Valkrye and it's faster twist. Some of the lighter bullets, like the 52 grain hollowpoint I like so well, come apart in flight when fired out of the Valkrie. The bullets just can not take the faster twist.
And a shared issue with both, the accuracy is already falling off in both barrels. They each have somewhere around 3000 rounds through them, give or take. These are both going to be barrel burners it looks like.
