I recently purchased a SIG Mosquito. SIG recommended the use of CCI copper plated mini-Mags. Every one failed to extract. I tried different ammo, Remington Yellow Jacket the ones with the truncated hollow point and they feed flawlessly. On closer examination of the cartridges the CCI cartridges were longer than the Remington, and then I tried and examined some Federals. The cartridge is the same length as the Remington (shorter than the CCI).

Just wondering did anyone else have this problem?

Why would SIG recommend a brand that clearly does not work in their weapon?

I have a Mosquito that I purchased, used, a couple of weeks ago. Haven't really shot it that much, but all I have shot in it is the minimags and they functioned perfectly. I'm gonna try some Federal in it this week and see if they function also.

I have seen several posts about the Mosquitos and related problems with the type of ammunition. Most have been positive about the CCI, but some have the same issues as you have stated as to their gun's preference.

I have a mosquito as well and it is very picky during break in. I didn't have many issues once I switched to mini mags though.

One thing I have noticed it this gun like to be oiled liberally and hates to be dirty.

It should have come with 2 springs as well. Try the other spring and see how it responds.

Mine has gotten a lot better the more I shoot it. I can get through about 200 rounds of the cheap stuff before I start having any issues. I usually shoot around 3-400 rounds out of it in a session and always clean it afterwords.

I oil the snot out of it when I'm done cleaning it, and before the next range session I wipe the excess off, but usually end up putting a little drop or 2 on the rails during a shooting session.

There is a pretty good and extremly long mosquito thread on the sig forum if you ever have a few hours to kill.

It seems to be a pretty picky gun in my experience but once you get the kinks worked out and learn its likes and dislikes it make for a fun range gun. Out of 3-400 rounds during a range session, I usually have 2-4 failure to ejects now with the cheaper stuff.

My Mosquito was picky the first few hundred rounds. As soon as I changed out the recoil spring to the "white" one, things improved considerably. If I fed it CCI Mini Mags, it was nearly 100% reliable. It hated everything else. After break in, it still loves the Mini Mags, and likes the Federal Bulk Packs. My pistol does not like any other rounds that I have tried, other than the Mini Mags, and Federal Bulk Packs.

Yup, the springs are different. One is for standard ammo the other for high velocity ammo. Mine shoots Federal bulk and Winchester 333 just fine - and of course CCI Mini-Mags...

I have 350 rounds of CCI Mini-Mag through mine with zero problems. Are you sure you've using .22LR?

I have used various Federal 22 LR ammo in my Mosquito. My Mosquito lovws Federal!
