$3600 Glock on Gunbroker, WOW!!

For those of us who thought it was only the custom 1911s in this price range, here you go. This is a fine looking pistol, and I am sure that it can shoot much better than I, but it is a Glock. Wow. Just, wow.

That's kind of what I thought when I saw the Sold price! I'm sure that the complete package, in terms of the gun and all the custom parts and work being done are worth quite a bit but still the final bid does seem a little over the top.

I think the main difference between custom Glocks and custom 1911's is the amount of hand fitting of parts, and slide to frame fitment.

I'd be interested to see what kind of hand fitting this went through, because I thought Glocks were pretty much like Lego's.

No way I'd spend $3600 on one. $1500? You might could convince me, if I were in the market for a race gun. But $3600? Nope.

I would be even proud to say I paid $4385.95 for it instead of embarassed I paid $3600.00 for a glock....

Just paying retail seems you could do it quite a bit cheaper. Just a quick glance without price shopping for lower prices.

I don't see how that could happen. The 'autobid' should have just bid enough to beat the next highest bid. I'm not sure what the increments are above $3000 but it should have shown on the bid history.

Here is how it happened. Guy number one wanted it bad so he set his bid at 3599. Guy number two was just as smart and set his for 5000. So it auto bid to 3600 and he had to change his pants.

Oofdah. I can't see the scenario in which I would pay that much money for a gun. I have changed somewhat as to my attitude regarding custom 1911's, but 4300 bucks is just too much for a gun that doesn't have some inherent historical value, or isn't specialized to such a degree as to merit it, and relative to that comment, there is no 1911 that can be that specialized that I personally could use. For that price, I can buy a used Camry and just ram the target/villian repeatedly, all while sitting in air-conditioned glory.

Actually, given the build it is only good for one class and you would be handicapped.. Not many competitors would toss that kind of money at a competition gun just to get minor points...

Well, if I was into Glocks, and had a purpose for such a customized one, I'd be happy to spend the money (assuming i had the money), but I just can't see $3000 worth of parts and labor in that.

And I understand that the labor is the expensive part here, but following Tarosean's formula, that's ~$450 for parts, and lets say $600 for the gun. That's ~$2500 ish for labor. I don't see that.

I'm thinking seller changed his mind, and a friend bid it that high to it wouldn't sell.

Can't speak for the other dummy who put his max bid that high, though.

That is customized weapon far removed from my factory gun. When one buys IWC watch powered by highty modified ETA movement it's not same as what is in $1500 clunker TAG-Heuer.
