here are a couple more that you could look into.
the 10,75x68mm mauser, 10,75x57 mauser & the 10,75x62mm wildcat.
mauser factory loaded the 10,75x57 based off the 8x57 up untill the early 30's
they all use a .423 dia bullet.
the 10,75x62 is made from -06 basic brass with no body taper & giving right at .015 to headspace on.
the 10,75x68mm mauser uses .498 dia. brass and ends up with about .020 to headspace on.
i have a mas 36 sporting rifle in 10,75x68mm & it is a fun rifle to shoot. its a low pressure round so recoil is very mild.
once the brass has been fired it has a very distinct shoulder.
most of the bullets for the 10,75 are 347 grain, but you can use 404 jeffery bullets since they are only .001 smaller giving you more bullet choices

pac-nor, montana & lothar walther all have the correct dia. barrels for the 10,75

Wow I like the looks of that, what kind of pressure & what grain bullet @ what velocity?
Any problems getting it to head space right?

Well I got my die's today. I decided on a 416 taylor, I had a springfield action laying around and just got done with a 375 taylor on a ruger 77 tang safety action and really like it so now I'm gathering up parts for this project. need a magazine and stock. and will have to order a barrel. anybody out there with any spare part's?

I paid a smith to build a custom 9.3 X 62 rifle for me. The 285 grain bullet had great appeal to me for elk because my well used .308 always took two shots to down an elk. My thought was that just one shot would do it. I was wrong. Still two shots. Its not that I was trying to save on ammo - I wasn't. I was seeking more "knock down" power.

I reached the conclusion that two shots to topple an animal weighing over 600 lbs is reasonable and predictable. So I sold the custom rifle for tiny profit and went back to my old faithful .308 because of less recoil and lighter to carry.

Oh man ! My kind of guns. Big bore, heavy bullet, you have got to love it.I have a 35 whelen and I am working on a 50 cal. wild cat but I think I'll just step up to 56 cal. ASAP. Lets see I could start with a 338 Lapua case, shorten it to 2.?", blow the taper out, and neck it to .56. It'll shoot muzzle loader bullets. LOL. Or not? Sounds like fun!
