My grandfather has a LARGE stockpile of .40 S&W and he's getting a little too old to go shoot regularly. As such, his .40 S&W (2000+ rounds) sits in his gun room, untouched. I've always had access to it but haven't had a gun to shoot it. You see, grandpa is a glock man, and I'm am not a fan of glocks so I haven't made a habit of borrowing his .40 cal glocks to go shoot when I have plenty of .45 ACP for guns that I would much rather shoot. I collect M1911s (or I am trying to start anyways) and I was wondering if anyone knew of a good quality (I'm used to Springfield, Dan Wesson, and Kimber performance) M1911 in .40 S&W.

Sorry for the rambling nature of this post.

Thanks.

+1 for the STI Trojan

Fired one at the range and its a great gun, and it handles 40 quite well.

I have an old PO P-16 in .40 (with a ramped barrel) that my gunsmith friend has worked on. It has all new Ed Brown internals and fire control system, some extra checkering and has a matt hard chrome finish. That sucker is SUPERBLY accurate and absolutely 100% reliable. I love that thing!

I also have an extra Ed Brown barrel fitted to it in .357 SIG.

Very versatile hunk of hardware!

inexpensive Mr. Trump? for 1 G I'll take a Glock 23 and a M&P40 and a couple hundred rds of ammo.

guess it's just the Scottish in me

If you can make the splurge on a custom build, I'd highly advocate a Wilson Combat 1911 in .40 or a Nighthawk Custom T3 in .40.
