I have several hundred Winchester .224" 64gr. Power Point Bullets and want to develop a load for 223 Remington. I need some starting points since there aren't many published loads.

Anyone have any loads to recommend? I have W748, H335, H4895, IMR4064, RL-7, RL-15, Varget & BL-C(2) on hand.

Winchester says max 25.0gr. W748 @ 2.120" COL. The Hornady manual says 25.8gr with a heavier, longer, 68gr bullet @ 2.250" with a service rifle.

I may use it for deer this year if I can come up with a fast, accurate load.

Gun: 20" AR with a 1:9 barrel and 5.56x45mm chambering.

My 1 in 14 twist .222 Mag has trouble stabilizing the 64 gr power points, but most .223's will be 1 in 12 or faster. It should not be a problem. They shot fine in a 1 in 12 .222.

Speer #13 manual showed data for 62 grain bullets. I just backed of that data a bit.

Winchesters data for Win748 is a good load in my AR's. I've loaded 24.7-25 grains of 748 in RP cases and using RP 7 1/2 primers and there was no sign of pressure. I have some early 64 pp's and accuracy will be improved if you sort the bullets by weight. Mine seem to vary from 63 to approx 65 grains.
