If you're referring to the SIG P239, I thought it had an alloy frame in all versions...

I can't think of any other current-production single-stack all-steel .40s, and, intrigued by your question, I looked at a number of websites for manufacturers who might make such a pistol and failed to turn up a single example, including Kimber, Smith & Wesson, EAA/Tanfoglio, Ruger, and CZ.

Back in the '90s, there were the Star Firestar M40 and the Astra A-70 and A-75, and the HK P7M10, I suppose, but that's pretty exotic.

Other than that, I'm drawing a blank.

Of course, there are a lot of niche 1911 makers, perhaps one of them makes a .40SW pistol?

Springfield Armory's EMP .40 is steel, and a single-stack. sub-subcompact, though (I really, really want one, although I may settle for the aluminum-framed EMP 9).

Oh, well, if we're counting alloy-framed pistols that are single-stack and chambered for .40SW, then we can broaden the list to include...the...Astra A-75l. :D

Seriously, though, I'm surprised that the boom in shall-issue CCW hasn't resulted in more single-stack pistol designs, regardless of caliber or frame material. Even if you are content with a polymer frame and 9mm or .45acp, there isn't all that much out there, as far as current production goes.

dan wesson SS custom. not cheap, by any means, but a good value for your money. i have their commander bobtail, and i'd gladly add another dan wesson to the safe.

Ah, good example, orionhawk. I didn't know they offered it in .40SW.

they just started recently.

for anyone who is not familiar, the EMP is a Springfield Armory Loaded M1911 with the frame shortened (inside diameter of grip and travel distance of action) to take advantage of the shorter oal of 9mm and .40. sort of like the reverse of the theory behind the .45GAP (which was a shortened .45 designed to fit in a frame sized for .40 or 9.). the grip is extremely comfortable.

I really wish they'd make a "full-size" EMP (4 or 5 inch barrel).

I want an EMP in .45GAP.

Many all steel .40s if you are interested in 1911/2011. My preference runs to STI, but many out there to choose from in different sizes.

The EMP looks promising, anyone have experience with it?

How reliable is it?
Will it take other 1911 parts?
Can I get magazines w/o the "slam pad"?
What is it's ammo capacity?

A walther PPS in .40 (with the largest magazine available) fits your requirements, and offers shorter flush magazines for better concealment as well.
