9mm 1911s: Why?

I am for the most part a black powder / revolver guy. The only semi auto I ever looked at twice was the 1911. Some day I will rebuy into one and it will be a 9mm due to ammo costs.

Why? Because it's fun. Not a lot of recoil, that 1911 trigger, and cheaper than 45 for sure, factory or reloads. Little story about recoil: Early this summer I took my 13 year old, 5 foot, nothing great grand daughter to to the range with me. There were two 1911s along, 9mm and 45. I asked her if she though she could shoot the 9. "Yep" and she did, repeatedly, and enjoyed it. The I gave her the 45. One shot was enough. Kid has grown 2 " since then and I bet the next time she will be able to handle the 45.
