Marcus: Thank you for taking the time to explain that to me, it helped a lot

Ray P: No rental ranges are not just Southeastern things :p we have indoor ranges near me that I believe rent, but yeah thank you for your opinion, it is greatly appreciated.

Well, it appears that me and my dad are going to a gun store(s) tomorrow to check out some of these guns. So who knows, if I like one that I see, I might just be bringing home a shiny new 9 *shrug*

Excellent, have fun!

Oh, the singlestack SIG 225s are coming into the US as used police guns; generally a good deal if you see one.

I have 3 of your top 5 --
The HK is my fave -- the frame fits great and I can put rounds exactly where I want as quickly as I can. The Beretta is an all time fave -- primarily because I learned to shoot w/ the 92fs and I have ALOT of rounds down range w/ that gun. I have the G19 -- it took a while to get used to the finger grooves but now, she's another of my faves. I don't think you can go wrong w/ any of your choices as long as you commit the time & effort to get proficient w/ the platform you choose ;)

Xd or Glock in my opinion, leaning a bit more to glock because you can never go wrong with one and there are parts for them everywhere and the accessories seem to be endless.

Ive had an XD and USP and also the 226. I do like the 226 the best, then the USP and then the XD.

The Beretta 92FS (aka M9)...very reliable. I have shot over 1200 rounds with not a single malfunction. Excellent smooth action. Feels very rugged. I like the safety/decocking system of my M9. The "open top" design is supposed to prevent jamming. So far...no jamming of any kind. It holds 15 plus one ...enough ammo for most emergencies.

Cons: It's a bit large. The ergonomics could be better and it is hard to conceal (for my dress code). I consider mine a "house gun". No regrets of buying one.

I would have to agree with the previous comment about finding a range and shooting the guns. I shot a large amount of compact and sc 9mm pistols and decided on the XD9sc. Fit the best in my hand and was the most accurate for me.

When i picked up my XD9sc i went straight to the range and ran through 200 rnds of WWB. No failures whatsoever.

Choose what works best for you.

Yeah I just went to a store today and tried pretty much all the guns on the list. And narrowed it down to either the Beretta 92FS or the SA XD9 in 5".

The CZ Sp01 is a 75B with some changes. Some are: Drop-Free mags, 19+1 capacity and a tac rail that adds a little front end weight and decreases flip. It's a little pricier than the 75B and 9mm mags are 2X+ as expensive and less avalable than the 75B.
The 9mm 75B mags are 16+1 and easy to find at $18. The mag brake can be flattened or replaced to make the mags drop free.
Both are very tough, reliable and accurate. Parts are readily available and inexpensive. Many custom parts/add-ons are also available.

If you're buying a gun for fun or nightstand protection, the CZ is a great choice.

P.S. The 75 can also be bought with an SA trigger that gives a much shorter reach and faster reset.

The 16 rounders will also work in the SP-01 wont they? I think they will just sit flush with the grip instead if that plastic bottom on the actual SP-01 mags. If anyone knows for sure please speak up, im going to be ordering some spares if they will work.
