9mm Pure Target Gun

It feels like the slide is running on greased linear bearings
THIS! I went to look at a P210, with the thought of making a trade to get it. They wouldn't give me squat on the trade, so I ponied up the money anyway. Racking the slide was all it took.
Let me posit that the single action break on a S&W revo remains the best trigger on earth, with a M52 close behind. But the P210 two stage trigger is both superb, and controllable.

I've been shooting my CZ SP-01 Tactical lately. I like it.
Had been shooting a Rock Island Tac Ultra before that, it shoots well.
Have a bunch of different ones I could shoot.

The SA 35 is no target gun.

Hi Powers are have some cool history and I own several of them, but from a performance standpoint, they leave a lot to be desired by today’s standards.
Oops, misinterpreted the title of the thread for a gun for targets only as in a plinker.

I’ve decided I need 9mm target gun. All informal so it doesn’t have to fit a box or power level or anything at all. I have it narrowed down to a 1911 (Kimber or Springfield likely) or the new Sig P210. Looking for opinions.

I have plenty of 9mm defensive pistols so mag capacity is a non issue.

Obviously the correct answer is to buy both but let’s just say money is a slight issue, so which one first?

I'd go with the Sig Sauer P210 for your intended use.

I think the P210 American is calling my name the loudest. As I said, no competition shooting, I just want as much accuracy as I can get from 9mm. Planning to sell several lesser guns and buy quality.
I think that’s the right choice

The CZ Shadow 2 Orange is also a great choice

That Pardini is pretty special looking. Wasn't on my radar but I'll bellowing at them tonight even though it's way out of my league.

Mrs has a 9mm Dan Wesson Vigil that’s a fine pistol & a great shooter, don’t know that I’d call it a bullseye pistol (especially in my hands) but could possibly fit the role.

When I decided I wanted a dedicated 9mm target pistol I brought home a CZ TSO & couldn’t be happier. It’s absolutely has the best trigger of all my pistols & is purely a range toy.

Been overthinking this whole thing so much this week. I've actually gone so far as to talk myself out of a 9mm altogether one minute and searching for that damn Pardini the next. Doesn't help that I had a great range trip with my .357 mag (GP100 Match Champion) this weekend.

I found an old picture (2005) this morning of Bruce Gray shooting an early SIG GSR 9mm. Hornady 124gr XTP over a load of HP-38

That's a 1.8" group at 50 yards shooting off-hand (2 handed grip, standing unsupported ). Just to make the point that auto pistols can indeed how tight groups if you have the skill to utilize their designed accuracy

I decided I needed a dedicated target/gaming 9mm when I saw a Sig X5 for sale. Scratched that itch for under $500. Its probably not as accurate than some of the guns here but its more accurate than I am so that's all I need.

I have a few PPC revolvers too, I seem to be much more accurate with them than any semi auto I've tried so far. Time and practice will tell.

I’ve got a ton of 9mm target pistols. Below are some of my favorites in no particular order…

The CZ Orange pistols

Sig X Series pistols

Laugo Aliens

Sig P210 Super Targets

Sig P210-6

Phoenix of Switzerland

Pardini GT9

Smith & Wesson 952

Well, you got me beat, by #’s.!
I’ve just got a bunch of S&W’s Performance Center 5906’s, Super 9, M1911, and a garden variety Gen 3 5906, that holds it’s own.

OP, The question has become, how much accuracy do you want (need?), and how much you are willing to spend.
I bought sometime back a late model S&W Performance Ctr. Professional M1911 in 9mm.
What a pretty piece of garbage! The throat is long enough to chamber a .356TSW 147gr XTP loaded to 1.169”, the longest that magazine will accept. It shoots basketball sized groups at 50yds. I may some day send it back to S&W for another barrel…
OTH I’ve got a Tisas M1911 “Service” that has many of the features of the S$W except it came with a non-adjustable Novak style rear sight. I’ve replaced it with a Dawson adjustable rear. It shoots 3” at 50yds! Cost me $350 plus the rear sight.
Go figure!

When I first read your message, my brain missed the "k" and "t" in basketball. I was thinking that a baseball-sized group at 50 yards is pretty good . . . then I reread!

Sounds like a great haul you’ve got there. I don’t own any standard 3rd gen Smiths any longer, but I do have quite a few more PC models in addition to those 952’s. I love the old Performance Center autos
