Recently picked up a Beretta 92 and would like to start reloading for it. Also in the process of getting a threaded barrel and suppressor.

Any issues using 147gr FP lead bullet from MBC on top of Winchester Auto comp with this setup?

I've used Lee dies for rifles with some success. Anything wrong with the Lee pistol dies carbide or standard?

Here's a comment from a .45 subgun guy, don't know how close it would be to your 9mm interest:

i just ran 2000 of youre .45 softball bullets thru a full auto tommy gun. they worked perfectly.thank you for a great product at a reasonable price.

Don't know about Auto-Comp in that application?

It is designed to run high velocity and high muzzle pressure to make guns with compensator's work better in holding down the muzzle climb.

High muzzle pressure would seem to be at odds with what you are trying to accomplish with a suppressor.

Cast bullets make a silencer very dirty. I made one for my 9mm HP with screw on end caps. I take it apart for cleaning after each use. One hundred rounds deposits enough residue in the can and on the baffles to make it difficult to get apart. I'm sure that a few thousand rounds would fill it up enough to seriously degrade performance and increase weight significantly.

If you shoot cast ammo in a sealed can, it would be a good idea to ensure the manufacture is willing to perform service (clean) on it. If it comes apart; then be prepared for an hour of cleaning after each trip to the range. I have heard of various cleaning methods for cleaning sealed cans, but I'm not sure if they work when used on those full of crap from cast bullets.

What would you guess would be a good powder to start with? I'll try different powders at some time but I'd like to get a recommendation for the first buy. Maybe a few recommendations since the local Cabelas is my only choice within 100 miles and they are frequently out of many powders.

Well it would seem to me the powder using the smallest charge to get the best velocity would be best for a suppressor.

I might try some of the fastest powders you can use with 147 grain bullets.
IE: Titegroup, Bullseye, 700X, WW231 tops. It will take less powder to reach the desired velocity.

Course I know less then nothing about suppressors, or loads for them.

Still, it stands to reason the less powder burned the soonest, the less gas you have to suppress, or so it would seem to me.

I use an overload of unique (not the fastest) to get 1050 fps. I need a hot charge to cycle the slide as I do not have a rcoil booster on my form 1 can.

I highly recommend against shooting cast lead bullets through a silencer as vaporized lead will build up making it useless if it can't be taken apart.

My pet loads for 9mm Subsonic using 147gr Zero Brand FMJ are:

4.2gr Unique
CCI SP
1.130"

3.5gr Titegroup
CCI SP
1.127"

3.9gr N340
CCI SP
1.142"

Each of these loads avg around 950fps from my AR9mm, Sig P226, CZ85, and HK P7. Be sure to work these up and watch for pressure signs.

What brand/kind of Silencer are you looking to get?

If you hand load there are plenty of loads using 125gr lead and jacketed bullets that will be sub sonic. One of the benefits of making your own loads. Cycling the action may be an issue with 1,000 fps or less with lighter bullets and extra weight on the barrel from the suppressor but you should be able to correct that with a lighter spring weight from Wolf if its a problem.

A fast powder will use less powder and produce less powder fouling. The choices are numerous. W231/HP38 as already suggested but Bullseye, Red Dot, Green Dot, AA#2, Tight Group would work as well.

"What brand/kind of Silencer are you looking to get?"

Looking at an SWR Trident or Shadow
