9x18 ammo choices are crummy right now. I don't like the 115 gr Silver Bear ammo because I think those are to heavy for a 9x18 gun. Also, I don't like the recoil. However, the Silver Bears are the best choices available right now. Darn.
Makarov.com told me that they expect a good selection of 9x18 choices to become available within the next few months. That'd really be great. They were NOT more specific.
I'd like to have 95 gr JHP with 1050 or 1060 fps muzzle velocity from a typical Makarov like an IJ-70. Also 100 gr JHP with 1040 or 1050 fps, if possible.
Allegedly, CZ-83 9x18s give about 40 fps higher velocity than an IJ-70 when both are shooting same ammo. Is this true? Does anyone know?
I ordered a Shooting Chrony and I already own both guns. So I intend to test the velocities within the next 2 weeks. Perhaps the CZ-83s polygonal barrel gives it an advantage?
