Texas, baby!
the store on 59 s. is doing this , i am not sure of the others. they are offering 30 bucks off of rifles up to 300 bucks. Now that may not seem like much, but they had two 10.22 rifle compact models, for 200 bucks, this brings them down to 170, they had a bunch of remmy 597's for 150, that brings them to 120.
they had some other marlins and savages there for 129, that brings them down to 99 bucks. Not bad....

oh yeah, just in case, they had a few mosin 44's , that were 99 bucks, now then, if you can get these for 30 bucks off as well, that would be a steal on a mosin...

Can't speak for the rest of the guns, but...

The one of 290 has (had) a pile of M44s for $125. They were all force matched and soaked in comso. Even $95 sounds a bit crazy.

I've heard good things about the Remington .22 autos though. Hmmm.

The newer 597s are great rifles.

The old ones had lots of feeding problems.

I have what I can only assume is a preproduction prototype... I live near the Remington HQ, and I bought it from a friend who bought it from a Remington exec. He kept one for himself, as well.

It's stamped with Mayodan, NC, which I believe is different from most of the 597s, as well.

The earlier 597s had function problems that most people blame on the magazines. My sample, and newer ones I have fired, have never given me a problem.

I bought a Savage .243 sans accutrigger from Gander for $340 a couple of days after the "sale" and after they moved the price up to $420. I had the guy ask the manager for the sale price and he gave me the deal. They threw in a plastic gun case, trigger lock and gun sock. Today, a few weeks later, I get a $10 off coupon. That combined is $50 worth of freebies. I am impressed. Gander also gives a separate 1 year gaurantee.
