Hey, guys. I don't post in this part of the forum too much.
I've got relatives visiting from Japan for a month or so, just picked them up from the airport last night. My uncle brought me a little gift, thought I'd share some pics with everyone.
It's a Spyderco Spin with etched scales and a VG-10 stainless Wharncliffe blade. In my experience, VG-10 takes and holds an absolutely amazing edge, and doesn't rust AT ALL. I live practically on the beach and have three VG-10 knives that I regularly use, and I've never seen a spot of corrosion or even discoloration on any of them.
The locking mechanism is similar to a liner lock, except the scale itself is the lock instead of having any internal liner. There's a small detent ball that you might be able to see in the pics that holds the blade closed with a tiny amount of force- just enough to keep it from opening accidentally.
It's a tiny knife, but it's actually quite easy to handle and is extremely sharp. It also might be hard to find in the US, as it's apparently discontinued here.
