Let's see, a 22LR semi auto, NOT Ruger/Marlin/Winchester/Savage?
How about a Walther G22?
another vote for a Rem 597.
And of course the S&W 15-22. I love that thing. In fact, I can't remember the last time I took the either the G22 or the 597 out.
And for some offbeat fun how about the AR-7? Yes, they have mag issues but it's still fun.
The quality criteria rules out the GSG, as well as any Chiappa types - IMHO.

Another vote for the Browning SA-22. They're sleek, and they point really well. They're a little pricey, but they're great to shoot.

If you own a Buck Mark, those Buck Mark rifles are worth a look. I handed one a few months ago, and I will buy one eventually.

A few folks already mentioned it. The old 1970's-ish vintage Weatherby Mark 22, especially the Italian made ones, are fine weapons.

Pretty nice trigger (light but with a little creep), beautiful wood, nice ergonomics, sweet metal finish. And GREAT for new shooters, it has a semiauto/ single shot selector that catches the action open after each shot on single.

About those Buckmark carbines.

If you own a Buck Mark, those Buck Mark rifles are worth a look. I handed one a few months ago, and I will buy one eventually.

They are very nice little rifles,,,
They are very similar to the Beretta carbine,,,
I friend of mine let me shoot his Buckmark and I liked it a lot.

The biggest difference between it and the Beretta is,,,
The Beretta is a carbine kit that you use to convert a NEOS pistol into a carbine.

The Buckmark Sporter is a dedicated rifle ,,,
It's not created by using the frame and trigger from a handgun,,,
Well, actually it does use the Buckmark frame and trigger but it's one discrete unit

On the Browning website the Buckmark Sporter Rifle lists for $699.99,,,

The Beretta NEOS Pistol is around $248.00,,,
My Carbine kit cost $239.00,,,
So mine was a lot cheaper.

I do have the same problem with my Beretta as he does with his Buckmark,,,
Every time I drag mine to the range people line up wanting to try it,,,
It's accurate, reliable, and a real blast to plink with.

It brings out my inner James Bond.

By far, my favorite .22 auto is the Winchester 63. Used ones in great conditon are not cheap but they are, in my opinion, the most beautiful and well made hunting .22 ever made.
