A Real Test of Texas' New Castle Doctrine Law

Interesting discussion about the Castle Doctrine, but what about shooting the guy outside?!? I would be interested in your thoughts.

Well, one bg is dying on the floor, the other may be armed and a threat outside of the shop. He could shoot at the owner through a window, a possibility? One bg distracts the owner the other shoots him. Again, do we need to have someone inside fighting before we can defend ourselves?

I heard on the news this morning that this was the 42nd time his business had been burglerized since he has owned it.

Another "good" shooting.

On the TV this morning. A Dallas homeowner shot and killed a intruder in his garage.
Reported no charges will be filed against the homeowner but it will go before the Grand Jury (which is routine in fatal killings).

Did anyone see the Fox4 News Report on this? Absolutely disgusting. The reporter (Rebecca Aguilar) cornered this guy as he tried to buy a new firearm to replace the one taken as evidence at Academy. She blocked his car in and harassed this elderly veteran to the point he cried.

An example of some of the questions she asked:

"Are you just a trigger happy guy that likes to kill?"
"Why did you kill these 2 people?"

You can read more about it in the Activism thread (and see the video) where we are demanding an apology from Ms. Aguilar for her horrid behavior.

The parking lot interview

saw this on http://instapundit.com, video link and Glenn Reynold's comment.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnZd-5dYXfk

was struck by reporter Rebecca Aguilar's body-language, literally standing over him in judgment with tailored suit and umbrella. The way she looked down, literally and figuratively, on an old man who had defended his life, entirely legally, and reduced him to tears seems to me to be representative of the worst stereotypes of Old Media. Then, when she belatedly realizes that she's coming across like a bully -- because, you know, she is -- she retreats into faux-sympathy and the laughable claim that she's just helping him get his side of the story out. It's like something out of a local-tv parody on The Simpsons. Yet her webpage suggests that she's on the side of the "little guy."

Maybe if enough of us write them about this then maybe they'll fire her.

Wishful thinking I know, but it's worth a shot.

At the very least maybe she'll modify her behavior a little.

This was my e-mail.

Fox 4 Investigation,
I recently saw one of your programs on You Tube where Rebecca Aguilar tracked down and reduced an old man to tears in a parking lot after she blocked him in so that she could ask him rude and insensitive questions regarding him having to defend himself and his property against two burglars.

This harassment which disguised itself as an interview was extremely cruel and insensitive. This man who was forced to defend himself by killing one man and wounding another to save himself doesn't need one of your reporters following him around and trying to act like a bully by standing in his doorway so that he's unable to leave.

This kind of story is THE exact reason why news reporters are looked at as a pack of vultures who only think of filling their belly on the misery of others. Thanks for fulfilling that stereotype of the smug, arrogant, uncaring and jaded reporter. At least it lets people know what you people are actually like.

You were one of the few TV news stations that I could actually watch due to your usually fair coverage of the news. I guess from now on I'll get the news on the net.

My Name

At least she got suspended, maybe she will get fired afterall.

One can only hope.
