How stupid some people are

I was listening to the radio this mourning, they usually have "Stupid news" on about 7:15am. I guess this guy qualifies for this pretty well. After reading, all I can think of is how stupid it is to drink and play with guns, and perhaps he shouldn't have owned a gun, or even a sling shot.

Thinking gun empty, man kills himself at West Dallas party

A man accidentally shot and killed himself at a West Dallas party early Saturday after showing off his pistol to friends, police said.

A group of friends had been drinking in the 3400 block of Iroquois Drive near Loop 12 and Singleton Boulevard when Andreous Robinson, 20, went outside around 1 a.m. and shot a few rounds into the air. Police said Mr. Robinson then came back inside and thought that he'd discharged all of the rounds, so he put the gun to his head and pulled the trigger, said Sgt. Bruce McDonald, a homicide officer.

Mr. Robinson was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

His death came less than a day after a man was fatally shot in a similar incident at the Miramar Motor Hotel in the 1900 block of Fort Worth Avenue in north Oak Cliff. In that incident, police said, four men were drinking vodka and using crack cocaine Friday afternoon when one of them accidentally shot another to death.

What a statistical coincidence that there seems to be a correlation between that phrase and "some idiot shot ____ (himself, his friend, some innocents as he shot at a streetlight...)

A Fort Worth man trying to scratch an itch on his back used a revolver and accidentally shot himself.

Jorge Espinal, 44, was drinking beer and playing poker around 3 a.m. Sunday in his home in the 3500 block of Montague Street, when he got up from the table and walked into another room, said Fort Worth police Lt. Kenneth Dean.

“He told officers he had an itch on his back and grabbed the first thing he could get a hold of, which was a revolver,” Lt. Dean said. “The gun went off."

Mr. Espinal went back and told his buddies that he shot himself. “They didn’t believe him until they saw the blood coming down his back,” Lt. Dean said.

Mr. Espinal was taken to an area hospital, where he was treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries.

This goes on all the time.

Gun owners need to grow up and stop playing with firearms like they are toys. Weapons can KILL YOU!
I won't lie, I have messed around too with weapons but as I've grown older I think that careless horseplay can get you or someone else killed or hurt very quickly, .

As long as they're shooting themselves...I'm fine with them doing whatever it is they want to do.

If they screw around and injure or kill someone else, they should lose the ability to own firearms as well as bear whatever legal problems result.

More importantly, for booze.

People don't need a firearm to mess up and kill someone when they've been drinking.

People should have to get an alcohol permit and be a registered alcohol user before being given something so dangerous.

were his buddies so drunk that they didnt hear the gunshot a few rooms away? or do these guys have so many firearms accidents that they just thought the sound was a normal thing to hear while drinking?

I had this same discussion with my FFL and some friends years ago. He stated that if a passing IQ test were required to own a gun, he'd sell maybe 10 a month.

Alcohol's a convienent excuse. Most of the ad's and nd's and stupid things that people do with guns is done while sober.
