It seems that everyday I learn something new about firearms that I never knew before. It seems as though my classmates in my criminal justice classes know a lot about firearms. Just last week I learned that a cousin of one of my classmates owns a sawed-off shotgun with a supressor. Don't ask how that works, because I don't see how it would. Then of course I get the .357mag will blow a guys leg clean off. Of course some people rip on the 9mm, yet then they approve of the 380 because its a bigger bullet :uhoh:. What really takes the cake though, is one person was claiming that his buddy owns a full auto mp5 chambered in .306. Sometimes I don't even know what to say when it comes to what people say.

Have you guys/girls ever heard about a supressed shotgun before? :scrutiny: I am sure the stuff I have heard doesn't even compare to some of the stuff you guys that work with guns on a daily basis hear. ;)

I imagine it could work, if you vented the last part of the barrel and ran the gas up through baffles instead of out into the open. A shot cup is, for silencer/gas-op purposes, just like a bullet except that it will open up if something doesn't keep it shut.

It is possible, but only on a single barrel shotgun! As for the 9mm thing I spent 5 years in the Army with the Beretta M9as a side arm...Its not the fact that it is a cap gun, but the muzzle velocity is so high that it will go right through your target and in the heat of battle he wont even realize hes hit untill you put a few more through him, that is why alot of guys wanna go back to the good ol .45, its just got the stopping power its like throwing a dart or a rock at someone, cmon whats more likely to take you down....and some people might say well just use hollow points...YEAH!!! that would work!! but, its out lawed by the Geneva Convention!!

They did make a silent shotgun, or rather a silent shotgun shell. It used a brass accordian or piston to hold the gas. Pushed the shot out as it expanded. No bang.

There are some really absurd stories out there and most ignorant people tend to believe them without question. Facts on the other hand have a harder time being accepted. Today I was watching 'Tales of the Gun' with a liberal friend of mine. As the show cut to commercial the narrator stated, "Since 1934 there has only been one crime committed in the U.S. with a machine gun, and that was done by a law enforcement officer." He nearly went ballistic, flatly refusing to believe that statement.

Honestly, I don't know if the statement is true or not. However, in a discussion we had at work, my friend didn't hesitate to believe that Glock pistols wouldn't set off metal detectors.

Can't argue with statistics. I don't get why people try to argue that the DOJ and ATF would lie about such things, considering that they (well, the ATF, anyway) have vested interest in making machine guns out to be as nasty and badass as possible.

HOWEVER, "Since 1934 there has only been one crime committed in the U.S. with a machine gun, and that was done by a law enforcement officer." is incorrect—it needs to add on "only one crime with an NFA registered machine gun", if I remember correctly.

I couldn’t remember word for word what was said. I am amazed I remember anything after Jim’s reaction. He actually changed the channel. Once we started watching the Food Network I began lecturing on the dangers of kitchen knives.

He isn’t a bad guy. I just think ‘gun control’ has been an issue for him for so long it is like having a favorite team. He wants his side to win and he doesn’t care how.

Pfft .306 full auto mp5? That guy is outdated I hunt with my limited edition full auto supressed mp5 in .50bmg With the words Mall Ninja in gold on the side:neener: . Rofflmao I love people who say that suff always makes my day ^^

Wrong treaty

"that is why alot of guys wanna go back to the good ol .45, its just got the stopping power its like throwing a dart or a rock at someone, cmon whats more likely to take you down....and some people might say well just use hollow points...YEAH!!! that would work!! but, its out lawed by the Geneva Convention!!"

Poor spelling and worse punctuation aside, you have the wrong treaty. The Geneva Convention addresses the treatment of non-combatants, whether prisoners or civilians.

The Hague Convention limits weapons.

haha I know, I am a terrible speller, hahaha thats why I joined the army, but now im Pre Law so it should get better!

but Geneva Convention specified what rounds we could and couldnt use

Wilfull ignorance

A law student who won't do minimal research or use a spellchecker - yeah, you're "Pre Law" alright....

but Geneva Convention specified what rounds we could and couldnt use

Wrong then; wrong now. Go here and cure your ignorance:

I'm taking a Criminal Justice class as well.. My classmates are potential JBTs and for the most part - firearms ignorant, although the topic of LOTR and Reno 911 has come up more often than I'd ever expect in any college class and more than half of the class is rather proficient in detail with those two subjects...

My professor (retired LEO) said one day him and a few of his colleagues at the PD went out duck hunting with their PD issued shotguns (he didn't describe it anymore than it held 5+1 and had an 18" barrel) and they were using brass shot.

Also said the game warden came out to check em and they all got cited for not having the mag tube plugged. Never heard of brass shot before, I always used steel. Pointed that fact out to him and he said "oh, maybe that was it.. some metal that wasn't lead."

anywho, professor asked the class a question about if on patrol they got a call saying if they didn't pull over a red truck that's gunna be driving by soon, that a bag with 10,000$ would be waiting at their doorstep at home. Most of the people in class said they'd take the money, others said they'd pull the truck over regardless of wether or not it was breaking the law.

I was like "***, that's ridiculous.. If he's not breaking the law I'm not gunna pull him over because chances are high that it's either someone pissed off at whoever it is and wants them to get busted/hassled or something equally non-eventfull. And hell no I wouldn't take the money."

crazy people..

Sorry, dont want to argue on the internet, but I didnt know I was writing a college report in forums, and either way that law is just an extention of the Declaration of St Petersburg, Ill be sure to cure my ignorance next time I see you post in a forum, dont you worry!

I've always wanted to fire one, just for S&G's. But not pay for it!

Have you guys heard about my tiger-stripe 25mm Deagle? :D

>some people might say well just use hollow points...YEAH!!! that would work!! but, its out lawed by the Geneva Convention!!<

Last time I checked, it was the Hague Accords that dealt with ammo and weapons. At least you're citing an actual restriction (no hollow point): usually, when the Geneva Convention comes up in a gun discussion, the whole "you can't use .50BMG against personel" is mentioned...

No two subjects attract more hot-air then guns and cars.

I think my favorites so far have to be the recent bragging by a friend's boyfriend about his "garlic-filled" bullets that poisoned the blood and killed an offender in his tracks no matter how minor the wound, and the older idiot who thought he was a rangemaster at Bullseye who kept coming into my buddy and I's lane and giving unsolicited advice, most notably blaming my S&W 642's keyholing on my "hitting the metal target holder and bouncing the bullets into (a neat group) the target". What a blowhard.

Don't worry BergaminoCAV

Oh yeah...topic...A neighbor told me he was a gun nut only he didn't have any guns at the moment and didn't know what a .40 caliber was (or .40s&w either).

There was the LOL "fully automatic revolver" thread awhile back....

One time I had a Federal Police officer tell me that I can not use the bear guardian pepper spray on people...
I smiled and said it worked quite well on people! ;-)
