I've read a lot of the threads on here pertaining to safes, and am now leaning towards safes that do not have their wall thickness measured in "gauge" - i.e. 1/4" or higher, and looking potentially into TL-rated.

Note - there are a few people on this forum who seem to be highly informed on the subject of safes, and I especially welcome your insight.

Two I'm seriously considering are BrownSafe safes, and the TL-15 rated upright Amsecs.

My questions fall into two broad areas, the safes themselves and the delivery/acquisition logistics. Forgive me if the questions, particularly the latter, seem naive - I have never bought a gun safe before.

The Brown safes:
I noticed that on their "gun safe" page, despite linking to a description of their ratings, that none of their gun safes claim to be TL-15 rated, even the "E" (NOT "ER") that is an inch thick on the walls?

Are the (TL-15 rated) Amsecs this thick?

For the value for money, for good security, PLUS the bonus of fire protection, should I lean toward the Amsec?

Delivery logistics/purchasing:

Buy direct from factory or through reseller? Do they typically deliver to install or just to curb? These safes such as the Amsec weigh as much as a small automobile, I'm guessing that they aren't handled as easily as a Cannon from Academy.

For these 2000-3000 pound behemoths, how significant are the shipping charges? Should I specifically seek out a dealer nearby?

My delivery location is in central Texas, and the safe would be placed in a garage in a residential area. While the RSC-type safes seem to come from Utah, these heavier safes all seem to originate in California. Should I deal with one agent in moving the safe, or two (one for main delivery, one to move it into house)? Roughtly how much does it cost to move such an item all that distance?

Any insight appreciated.

Thanks,
Battler.
