I fully expected attacks on the 2nd when the current administration came to power. I was somewhat surprised to see the priority was actually the 1st amendment. A few short years ago I would not have thought we would ever have censorship at the level it is now in this country.

Gun control is a means NOT an end. It's a way to forcibly remove the 1st, 4th, 5th... and 13th Amendments without fear of retribution.

Cuomo and the CDC both were trying to make it a health policy issue. In the deluge of bad news and stripping away other rights, attacking the 2d Amendment might be a lot more catalytic than they are prepared to handle.

That's why they haven't bothered - it was a negative issue for their campaigns 5 years ago and softpedaled even during HRC's run for President. They have been far more successful stomping the 1st Amendment and the result is deplatforming millions who express right wing views. They have labeled them terrorists, opened the doors to the Capitol to prosecute them and have been highly successful getting gun forums to clamp down on any posts.

Case in point, the biggest gun forum shut down discussions and has corralled others into permitted threads where they can control the conversation. Social media has done exactly the same, only one permits "free speech" unless it's violent or illegal. In a very abstract view, even that is censorship, albeit that moral and ethical people don't make those posts.

Overturning the 2d Amendment is just churning the subject for whatever division and hatemongering they can get out of it. When you are locked down inside the house wearing a mask and getting an hours walk outside by permit - exactly what is happening in Australia right now - then who needs gun control?

At that point they already got you to take a knee. Duh.

Activists from numerous gun control groups are pressuring President Biden to created a White House-level gun control office that can be led by an individual who does not need Senate confirmation.

Politico reports that push comes as confirmation of Biden ATF nominee David Chipman appears unlikely, now that Sen. Angus King (I-ME) has voiced his opposition to the nomination.
