I don't get a citrus odor. It's kind of odd compared to other powders.
Each powder has is own signature
Cfe223 smells like burning dirty socks.
As long as the accuracy doesn't stink I can deal with stinky powder.
I like the smell. It’s different and completely unique, just like all the others.
But, the coated CCIs smell awful. My other coated bullets don’t smell like that, these stink. Like other coated bullets though, they are very clean in the bore.
I know that, regardless the odor, I’ll be enjoying the case I have of each.
And nothing beats the smell of H-110, in the morning or otherwise!
I'm going with "wierd" as that is what is is for me. I haven't smelled any other 22 ammo with that smell. My first though was ground up goat dung to add bulk. I don't detect anything that resembles a citrus smell at all. Whatever it is I can put up with it as the ammo shoot pretty accurately in my guns.
I thought I had some Super Extra, but it’s Rifle Match. Actually, I’m kinda surprised I had this any of this stuff laying around. I’m not know to be lenient on a stock of ammunition…
Aguila uses the priming method developed by Eley. Changing the name Eley Prime to Aguila Prime might be a change in process or might just be a change in name to get away from the impression Eley primed the casings for Aguila.
More I shoot Eley vs Aguila primed, I am leaning towards Eley prime producing more consistent smaller groups.
As to OP, I have found shooting various Aguila 22LR ammunition that they do have slightly "different" odor than domestic brands but when doing comparison shooting today, Thunderbolt stood out as catching my attention and rest had pleasant (At least to me) typical gun powder smoke odor.
