I'm sure a lot of you have seen the review of the Al Quada training tape that John Holschen, of Insights Training Center (www.insightstraining.com), did in June of last year.

If you haven't, it's available at: http://www.strategypage.com/articles/tapes/default.asp

This is a very informative analysis which everyone sould be familiar with, in my opinion.

A friend of mine recently attended a briefing, sponsored by KR Training (www.krtraining.com) and held in Austin, TX, conducted by John Holschen on this material.

One of the points to come out of the briefing was the fact that the bad guys were utilizing stockless AK assault rifles in most of the scenarios. This lead to the question, if you were present, and gained access to one of these AKs; how quickly could you bring it into play? How familiar are you with the operation of the AK- family of weapons?

So there's the question. How familiar are you with the AK? Could you bring one into operation rapidly? I've dusted off the old AK and given basic familiarization to my guys who didn't have any hands-on time with them and done refresher work with the guys, like me, who haven't touched them in awhile.

Not a problem.

Matter of fact, my Bulgarian AK clone was my Y2K gun. Of course, the Al Qaeda and non-ATF-approved guns have that extra little safety lever setting for full-auto. ;)

I wasn't familiar with the AK manual of arms when I saw that video... so I went to a friend's place and had him walk me through it.
