Now that I have a .40S&W handgun, in the spirit of THR caliber wars, I'm going to take all my handguns to the range this weekend and see which one is the best (for me at least). Maybe one day I will add .32acp, .357mag, .357Sig, .380acp, 10mm, .44mag, .50AE, .454Casull, and 5.7FN to the line up. :D

No way, its about the shot placement...9mm!

You .45 guys will never win this!

Just load them all, put them in box and let them fight it out amongst themselves. The survivor is the winner! Remember to wear your earplugs.

:neener:

For just shootin' paper, I'd put my money on the Model 64 or the Colt NM.

the 9mm is just another .380, only lighter. If you hotload it, you *might* get close to a .357 magnum.

Use a rifle! :neener:

Kind of a corrugated cage match!

Whatever works for you will be the BEST

Caliber is less important than skill....

Shot placement?

Pretty quick, someone is gonna come along and tell you that a well placed .17 is better than a miss with a .45 ACP.

Of course, you have to believe that good shot placement is not possible with a bigger caliber.

Umm i don't know anything about carpentry, but a 16oz straigh claw just sounds like a really awsome weapon :)

My turn to makeup a weapon! The .45 Spiker!

For me, 9mm is the best. Not the caliber really, it just happens to be the round that my SIG P-225 fires. :D

It is common, cheap to shoot, and still packs enough smack to do what I need it to do.

I do plan to add a .357 to my collection before too long.

I thought about this for SHTF style scenarios.... Just carry the minimum amount of guns required to have compatability with any round you're likely to find out on the street and you'll be *golden*. :)

I think a 1911 frame and a big set of interchangeable barrels and mags, a Glock 20 with the same, a .357mag revolver, and a .44 revolver ought to cover you 99% of the time.

As for best round? every round has it's advantages and disadvantages (cop-out!). For effectiveness versus size, I'd have to say .40S&W. That is, if you can find a gun that'll cycle low-power loads and still handle +P+, and you're hand-loading :)

OK - I'm going to say something here that may surprise some people, given my love of the 10mm:
I think a good SHTF gun would be a .44M - .44 special for self defense, and magnum capability for hunting...

plus, you can find ammo everywhere (at least in the U.S.)

Ok just for s***S and giggles I really like my Glock 32 with the conversion barrell to 40..that way I don't have to chose,,nd in the bigger is better category a Glock 30 with 400 corbon barrel for kicks...MY .02
