What to Do

I'd hang on to the S&W, the Colt's and the SIG. I'd sell off the others and buy more S&Ws.

A S&W M57 for .41 Mag

A S&W M4006 for .40 (If you REALLY like .40)

A S&W M5904 for 9mm

When you get those you will be MUCH happier.... ;)

since your not talking about the regular arguments (stopping power, penetration) I gotta go with the;

:p 38 Special :D

Fun to shoot all day, accurate, cheap

You know, every time I take a new shooter to the range they all want to shoot my 1908 Colt .25... but they tremble in fear at the Colt New Service, even though it hardly kicks, compared to a .45 auto.

And they all want to to try the Luger.

Caliber wars? Move the target out to 100 yards... and let me bring out the 357 Maximums.

.45ACP will rip right through a bear, turn it's innards inside out, blow up the forest behind it and hit Bill Clinton in the butt. 9mm will just make it angry. :neener:

.81 magnum (It'll shoot thru schools)

Seriously though, ya'll need to respect the authority of my .357 maggie, and my other .357, and my other .357, and my other .357, and my oth............

Uh, maybe I should invest in some other calibers. Nahhhhhh!!!

:p

I've settled on 40S&W Blackhills 165gr. GD for CCW. Good compromise between diameter, weight, velocity and capacity in my Glock23. YMMV- Ian

I would take that Beretta Elite II in whatever cal it is.:D That is a fine gun that should do anything you need to do with a pistol.

You guys are behind the curve. Just this past year, I've discovered the ultimate "carry gun" (for agony) is Ruger SBH in .454 (bandolier holster required). Next year though, I'm going sell it and to get back on the cutting edge when S&W comes out with their 14-ounce skadandy'em 8-shot "pocket version".

If it were not for the AWB Id say 9mm would win for its high capacity, low cost, low recoil, yet still above 90% one shot stop characteristics.

However, when your rounds are limited the question becomes whats the largest "bang" I can stand in a gun small enough to carry, and still fit 10 rds in a magazine......?

Enter the .40S&W for a great majority including duty weapons for Leos.

Of course there well ALWAYS be the "bigger is better" (.45) die hards as well as the "faster is better" (.357 fans).

My views is largely based on the fact that they are all rated higher than 90% one shot stop.....

I look at it this way, once your above (or very close to) 90%, it doesnt really matter...

Since it doesnt matter, carry the one with the lowest recoil for faster follow up shots, the one with the cheaper ammo for more frequent/cheaper practice sessions, and the one that holds the most rounds in case your having a real bad day and things take a turn for even worse
