Alright, "Metrics"... Talk Me Out of THIS One - Please!

It's not all about energy with skinny bores. Those ugly RN slugs have been boring holes through critters above their pay grade for over 100 years from the 6.5x55 and 6.5x54MS. They just look right next to a rifle such as yours as well. No doubt the 140s will outperform on lighter game, but they're still fun to play with.

For a woods round on big hogs and the like, they would be right.

Found the 140 gr. Speer Hot-Cor and Grand Slams on rebate.

Think that at these velocities, the GS should be an outstanding < 300 yard performer.

Can't see shooting past that w/ aperture sights save paper/steel, and the H-C's should be fine for that.

Will look into the heavies when I move into RE-22/26 development.

I really like the HC and Grand slam in 145 in my .280 at similar velocities on big Northern deer, they should serve you well also.

One of my favorite calibers. Even with the lesser load for the pre-'98 Mauser actions. And it is gorgeous. I would only talk you out of such a rifle if I had a chance at getting it. Yes, I'm a heavy bullet sort.

They are available, and Guns Midwest has a pretty good cash price, though their sale price is better..

Watched a GunBroker auction for one of these wind up yesterday - for more than I paid at an on-line store.

Good to know.

Actually doubled up on the Grand Slams, as they were only $0.22/pop w/ the rebate. Like having one load for a rifle anyway.

"Gott im Himmel!"

This rifle is sexy as an underwear model.

Got the rear aperture installed along w/ the 1-1/4" sling/swivels. Spend a day runnin' the action smooth.

Mounts like a bird gun.

Might remove the OEM rear sight/mount and filler-crew the holes... if I could get the damn main allen-head mount screw out.
