I tried that American Eagle from Academy Sports,,,
And it ran all of my guns very nicely indeed.

The ammo is 36 grain hollow point,,,
It is listed as high velocity.

The reason I wanted to try it out is,,,
Academy seems to get quite a bit of this ammo,,,
It's made by Federal so I'm hoping it's as good as the bulk packs were.

The odd thing is the boxes are 40 round instead of 50 round,,,
So the low price of $2.19 per box really ain't that low,,,
A 400 round brick came to 5.95 cents per round.

I do believe it is the same ammo as the Federal Bulk Packs,,,
When you examine the bullets they are identical,,,
Of course there is no way to tell for certain,,,
But the ammo performs much the same.

The guns were:
Ruger LCP with Twisted Industries rimfire adaptor
Ruger Mk-III 22/45 ( two pistols)
Beretta NEOS (two pistols)
Ruger Mk-III Standard
Beretta 87 Cheetah
Bersa Thunder 22
Buckmark Hunter
Taurus 22-PLY
CZ-75B Kadet
Ruger SR-22
S&W 22A

What I did was load three magazines for each pistol,,,
For most that was 30 rounds but for some it was 24 or 27 rounds.

The only failures out of 13 pistols was this short list:

The Bersa Thunder 22 had 3 failure to eject in 30 rounds,,,
I cleaned the extractor and ran 30 more perfect shots.

The Taurus 22-PLY I had one failure to fire in 27 rounds,,,
A second hit in DAO mode ignited the round.

The S&W 22-A had several failure to eject,,,
I ran 30 rounds of Mini Mag and had the same general result,,,
This was a bit disheartening but the pistol is brand new so I'm hoping it just needs some use.

The Buckmark hunter had one failure to eject in 30 rounds.

The Beretta Cheetah had one failure to feed,,,
But it was the last round in a mag that has been dropped and bent.

Out of 360 rounds that was the total list of failures,,,

$21.90 + $1.92 Tax works out to just under 6 cents per round,,,
That's not a fantastic price but the ammo works and is often available.

Oh, I almost forgot,,,
I ran 8 rounds through my Savage Mk-IIF,,,
Off of a plastic MTM rest I put the shots touching or in a 1" circle at 50 yards.

So my conclusion is,,,
I think I'll start stocking up on this ammo as Academy gets it in.

It has the aarondhgraham thumbs-up stamp of approval.

Thanks for posting your results. I was thinking of using this as my range round, so glad to read a report.
