Ammo stolen off of porch!

I like to use the UPS my choice program, that let's me choose when the package is delivered and I sometimes pick weekends so I can be home. If not, I usually schedule a late in the day delivery so I'm home in time from work.

When I have a high dollar package on the way (computer, tv, LNL AP, etc) I leave the man door to my garage open and a note on the front door on delivery day to put it in the garage and lock the door. It has worked well so far.

Over the years, my neighbors have received a number of my packages (USPS and FedEx). The ones who lived next door would let me know; others, not necessarily...but I was usually able to contact the delivery company, and they would retrieve and re-deliver.

Strangely enough, I have never received a neighbor's package (although their US Mail...yes).

Just trying to vent in a peaceful manner. Ordered a 250 case shotshells that was delivered today. Get home, nothing. Checked all around, delivery confirmation shows delivered. I sent the vendor an email to see what can be done.

Having someone at the house all day isn't possible, and I've never had a problem the years that I have lived here. I just hate the feeling of having something stolen from me on my own property. I guess I will have to have it dropped at a hub and pick up from now on. What a pain.:fire:

UPS or fed ex driver took it more than likely.

Happened to me 3 Christmases back. I ordered a box each of around 15 different .380 cartridges. Gone. Same as yours. Delivered then gone. In my case Sportsman's Guide replaced it. No charge, no questions asked. I have always praised them for this.

I don't order much online, but have been lucky so far that all of it has made it to my door.

I have received 2 packages in the last year that weren't mine. One was for an address that wasn't even close. I contacted the delivery company (IIRC, it was UPS) and they came by the next day and picked it up. The other was for my house number, but on the next street. That one was easy. The next day, I just walked it over, rang the doorbell and handed it to the recipient. I explained what happened in case they wanted to give an earful to the delivery company. So, if you're going to check with neighbors, you might consider also checking on the next street at house numbers that match yours. Just a thought.

FedEx driver left a Dell laptop at a vacant house.
He even admitted he left it at the wrong address.
FedEx paid for my Grandson a new laptop.

Definitely the time of year for that to happen.

Make sure it didn't go to the wrong place though. It is also the time of year for that to happen.

I would also advise checking into it. I have had both USPS and UPS show a status of "delivered"...and the package show up 1 or 2 days later.

UPS did a "Left on porch" at my place. I live a 1/4 mile off the road and from my mailbox. They left it in the ditch by the mailbox. There was no tire trx from anything other than my truck in the sand of my driveway road. They never came down it.

I know this isnt the best solution but my garage is left unlocked when a package is being delivered and the UPS driver always puts it in there. This is not the best solution but it works for me I am in a very low crime area.

I just filed an official complaint with the USPS over a postal carrier filing false delivery declarations, he had been doing so for months, and this time I caught him red handed slipping a note into my mail box stating that he had attempted delivery but nobody was home, I watched him do this from my front door, he never even got out of his truck! I was out thew extra cash I had spent on the worthless expedited shipping charges. He didn't steal anything, he was just a lazy, lying scumbag. BTW, you should have checked off that you wanted the insurance for your product upon ordering it from whomever your vendor was, thats why they offer it.

I had a delivery confirmation for the A2 flash hider I ordered. Never did see the thing. Two days later, guess where it turns up... my mailbox. Don't know if it got dropped in the truck, or what, but I checked after getting the confirmation of delivery and it wasn't there. Asked the wife, who usually gets the mail since I work 3rd, and she didn't get it.

But sure enough, a couple days later, its in the box with the rest of the daily mail. Confirmed delivery on the 4th, actual delivery on the 6th.

I recommend getting a private mailbox (eg UPS store). There's always someone there to sign, things that won't be shipped to PO boxes can be shipped there, and it's much less likely to be stolen, misdelivered, or rained on.

Of course, you have to be comfortable with others knowing where your mail is coming from - if you are really paranoid about somebody else knowing you got a package from Shutzenboomer, LLC then it's probably not for you.

But I don't really care, and I doubt the people who work at the place I use care either - except maybe how heavy/bulky the box is! It probably helps that I live in the south though, so "gun stuff" is pretty normal around here.

Don't discount the prospect the driver stole it. Back when I used to collect watches, the only safe way to send was USPS registered mail because of pilferage by UPS and FedEx. When my daughter was in college, I sent her a large package with a coat and some food stuff. When it arrived it had been opened and taped up again. The coat was gone along with half the other stuff. I filed a claim and they paid.

IME that is extremely difficult to do with much of anything these days (driver stealing). I suppose a watch might be one of easier things to get away with, if you only take one, you wear it out, and nobody knows any different...but around here the UPS drivers go through TSA-like security in and out of the facility to begin and end their shift...same as the other employees. Only they are also looking for stolen items in pockets, socks, waistbands, etc.

Don't count out the shipper dropping it at the wrong house or maybe not delivering it at all. It has happened to me several times.
I've had more packages delivered to the wrong house in the last couple of years than I can even remember. I've managed to finally get all but I think one of them. It's getting to be a very big problem around here.
This includes UPS,USPS,and the biggest problem is with LaserShip, they are pretty much worthless. I don't think I remember having a problem with FexEx but I could be wrong about that.

2-3 years ago I shipped a McMillan stock to a gentleman in NC via USPS. Tracking said the package had been delivered, but the buyer didn't have it. After checking with neighbors to see if it had been delivered to the wrong address I contacted local police in the town I shipped to and filed a report online.

Got an email and eventually a call from a detective who made a few calls. USPS "found" the package in their possession and delivered it 2 weeks late.

Stuff happens. I'd say chances are fair to good it was stolen, but I'd not give up just yet.

OP, I have had that happen to me before. The delivery confirmation showed it was delivered and everything too. In the end, my packaged showed up the next day. The delivery driver confirmed the package, but did not actually deliver it until the following day...

I research online after it happened to me, and it seems to be a common tactic/occurrence that some divers do for whatever reason.

Go to Home Depot/Lowes/Any Hardware Store and purchase a Plastic Lockable Tool Storage Box. A decent one will run about $100, a great one more. The days you are expecting a delivery, set the box outside the door/garage and place a padlock in it with a note thanking the driver for using the box and locking it.

FWIW I am pretty sure UPS stole a package from me about a year and a half ago. ALWAYS BE CAREFUL.

I printed a shipping label at home and dropped the box off at my local UPS store. I set it on the counter and the employee came over to pick it up, as usual. I then left. I didn't stand around and wait to see him scan it in. I was watching my tracking numbers online and it never updated. As far as UPS was concerned they never took possession of the package. It contained magazines and other firearm stuff at the the height of the panic.

Now I make a point of setting the packages on the counter and taking a picture of them there, 1Z number clearly visible.

In fairness it is possible, however unlikely, that I made a mistake. It's happened before. But neither that package nor its contents ever materialized on my end or the receiving end, nobody contacted me about receiving the wrong package (I think they would have, this package was worth less than any other I sent out around that time), and UPS never hit me up for more money (meaning I didn't accidentally print the same label twice and put it on two different packages or something)

Unless they drop it while on their route. Where there's a will, there's a way.

That would be possible under the right set of circumstances. It may not be the easiest or lowest-risk thing of course, but I'm sure it could be (and has been) done.

I got the impression that package handlers and the like at sorting facilities and hubs are more apt to try to steal packages than are drivers.

I had a similar problem. I ordered some pistol powder. UPS showed delivered, but no package. The shipper called around, and UPS said the driver remembered leaving it at my door... I honestly thought someone stole it from my house, but there were other packages that day. Why were they not taken?
I filed a claim on the UPS Web site. I explained what the missing package was, and that it was hazmat ormd. They called me within 5 minutes! I guess I included words like "flammable" and "explosive", and it got their attention. The very next day, UPS magically found my package...
I don't know where it was, and I didn't get to ask. They probably wouldn't say anyway, but I got my powder.
I recommend filling a claim, and dont be shy about the contents.
