Another cop lost some guns...

Gee, I wonder if the crook who grabbed these guns will get a bad concience and give them back? If not, mabye they can track him down when he goes to pay his $600 transfer tax? Heh.

This is why you arm your police with what you want everyone to own. You don't make exceptions for some parts of your society and expect what they legaly have to not end up in the hands of others. Whether through theft, corruption etc anything police have is what criminals will flock to aquire. If your police have military hardware then they have upped the ante.
Police usualy have numerical superiority to suspects they are allowed to employ such weaponry against anyways and multiple people firing semi autos with good training is still going to trump 1 suspect.
If your common cruisers shotgun is replaced with a high powered military rifle, then you can rest assured that the population will soon be armed more with the later than with the former. Same logic for full auto subguns. Criminals need to carry weaponry on par or competative with police and eachother, citizens need to carry weaponry on par or competative with what the criminals have to be able to defend against them. So eventualy much of society is armed with things on par with the police.

While I was still on Parole and working in a Body Shop, we had a Sheriff car in for repair. In the back seat was a hand held radio, flac vest, and a 9mm Beretta. It was still in the car when the repair was compleated. It was not wise, and it made me nervious. I made sure NOTHING happened to it.

Things like this make me sick. I can imagine police storming in my house, shooting my dog, me and my wife and then saying that we all attacked them and they either plant evidence or are not held accountable, because no one is left alive to tell the other side of the story.

I thought we revolted from England because of things like this.

Unfortunately we follow Englands example in policing now. I believe it was England's SAS rescue of hostages in 1980 that made everyone feel 'SWAT' commandos were needed by the police of all civilized nations. While places like Los Angeles had them prior, they didn't sport Full Auto weaponry and lots of other gear the average joe couldn't own.

Of course the reply to avoid being slaughtered is to do nothing wrong...Live in fear and keep as low a profile as possible. This is what the sheeple say. Do not question your government, and hope some crackhead 'secret informant' who they cannot release details about (if they even exist and are not a creation for the warrant) does not point them at your home when he has to come up with something to stay out of trouble.

If you are killed any and all justification will be sought, if you had a firearm available the police were defending themselves. If your teenager had some drug you don't know about hidden somewhere, they were successful in a drug bust. If anyone in the household had any prior problems in life and is not perfectly squeeky clean the focus will be on portraying them as the roughest toughest evil criminal the sheeple cannot relate to. That way others won't take thier side, he was evil and the police were saving us from the likes of him after all.

Within the last year, the chief of police in Laramie Wyoming left his handgun on the toilet tank in a public restroom. He wrote himself a reprimand. When my son managed a restaurant in Phoenix, an off-duty cop left a fanny pack with his Glock inside in the booth.

And I get upset when I can't find my car keys...

MASTER BLASTER -"Also many us soldiers brought them home from WWI in their duffle bags."

Nope. As mentioned above, the Thompson Submachine gun was not used in WW I. Perhaps you meant WW II??? I know some where sent back in various ways from WW II combat areas by veterans.

As for the lowdown, murderous cowards, Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow, they stole BARs, Govt. Model .45 ACPs, etc., from National Guards Armories.

For some strange reason, incomprehensible to paleolibs, criminals do not bother to obey the laws.

Oh that is just great. This is in California where the powers that be wish they didn't have the hassle of the constitution when making law. Where the goal of gun laws is to eventualy ban everything not a single shot long arm that costs more than any 'working' class citizen can afford. (if California senators have not managed to federaly ban firearms by that point)

Where only police in full body armor, with full auto suppressed weapons can have quiet unnoticed shootouts with suspects. No, I think the bare minimum required for police is for people to be aware when they are killing people. Allowing them to hide the recognied report of a gunshot means they can act with even more impunity.

Yes eventualy we in Kali will be so much safer when only police and criminals have adequate firearms. I mean obviously police feel it is necessary when in a life or death situation to unload dozens of rounds rapidly to immediately cease hostilities...quietly. Yet if a normal joe has to defend himself from immediate danger he better use very few rounds or he will be made out in trial as a trigger happy overkill murderer... I am confused.

Uhhh... because many of them don't. When's the last time you've heard of a criminal using a full-auto, suppressed weapon in the commission of a crime? Heck, when's the last time you've heard of a genuine full-auto being used (converted or otherwise -- and no, the "AK47's" you hear about on the news do not count because 99.99999999999999999999999% of the time they're semi-autos) for that matter?

And everytime I hear about these losses, I keep wondering if the guys in charge of keeping them lose them on purpose for the sake of a "stolen" weapon that they can sell/use and dump later.

That's it.....Perhaps we should disarm every civilian who loses a firearm.

Police departments are staffed by human beings. Because of that they will never be perfect. Just like every other human endeavor.

This one is closed.
