Another stimulus, another gun?

Should probably put it in an industry that needs the financial help more than the firearms industry right now.

The first 700 billion equaled out to $2300 per person, so I figure that is $10,000 per household.

Think of how much stimulus would have been started had they bypassed the banks and given it right to everyone. Sure, the bottom rung would have blown it on pot and beer, but the lower middle would have spent it on fixing the car, getting less behind on bills, etc. The middle class really could have gotten it spinning, and with the extra money going into the bank thanks to those middle class, 9 out of 10 would have 'saved' which means that 1 out of 10 could get a $100,000 loan for starting a business, home, etc.

Obama's stimulus package isn't going to work. All Obama's plan is doing is putting a band aid on the problem, it won't solve it! It's the banking industry that caused this mess by making high risk loans. Hell, they can't account for the money Bush recently gave them and now Obama wants to give them more and throw the rest of our tax dollars to states for infrastructure in order to create more alleged jobs??? Just how dumb does our government think we are?????

$700 billion is a lot of money. What Obama should do with it is give it back to the taxpayers. That would equate to about $400,000.00 to each and every taxpayer. I know if I had that kind of money I'd pay off all my bills.

They should have given the taxpayers the money in the first pllace with the stipulation that if you had outstanding loans in default the money automatically went to the lender.

That would have bailed out the foreclosees and the foreclosers and given the rest of us money to spend which would have bailed out the retailers.

i am looking at alot of money on the return this year, i will get one gun guaranteed and if i am lucky i plan to get 2.

Now there is some fuzzy math right there.

oh wow an extra $10-$12 a week.

that won't even cover the latest rate increases from my electric and gas companies.:scrutiny:

thanks a lot yomama.:fire:

the tires will never quit smoking all the way to the gun store!
seriously though, if they do it, i will cash that puppy, and go directly to the gun store:D. and this will be the look on my face when i send a photo of my new prize to barac obama, thanking him for the money for it! :D:D:D:D

My Bush stimulus got cut down to barely nothing. The IRS sent us a letter right before the stimulus check to tell us they found out we owed more money so they will just subtract the difference.

I think I bought some yogurt with my stimulus package and I still had to pay a few bucks out of pocket. I hope that bumped up the economy in the curdled milk segment of our GNP.

How nice... that's like me telling my buddy, "hey, you know that $20 I owe you? I realized you actually owe me $18, so here's 8 quarters. Have at it."

"photo of my new prize to barac obama, thanking him for the money for it!"

This is simple concept so I will try to keep it very short.

IT IS NOT HIS MONEY!

Should probably put it in an industry that needs the financial help more than the firearms industry right now.

What industry deserves it more than the gun industry?

Give it to AIG so they can take another hunting trip after their taxpayer-funded sojourn in Scotland? Give it to Fanny and Freddie to pay off someone else's loans that they can't be responsible for while you slave away and pay your mortgage? Give it to American Express so they can write off bad charges made by people who overspent on junk while you paid your credit card bills every month? Give it to GM or Chrysler so they get your tax money to give to the UAW and then still get to sell you a car that the taxpayer already paid for?

Those industries are all either bailed out or in the process. Sounds like a good use of OUR money, right? Yep, federal money is OUR money. Not the President's nor Congress' money. It's OUR money.

If the Obamination and the RePo Congress (Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi) are serious about helping the carmakers, give the people a real incentive with monetary policy that shapes behavior. Let us write off the cost of the purchase of a new American vehicle on our taxes. That way, the people who don't pay taxes and don't work cannot benefit for not doing anything. The working people can buy a new car and save on taxes. The automakers can sell their cars and recover money on cars already made and sitting on the lot. Everyone wins except Congress who loses control over us and the zero-liabililty voter who gains nothing by it because they don't contribute to the economy anyway. However, it will never pass because the zero-liability voter is who Congress caters to for votes.

Yeah... right now I can't think of any other industry more deserving of my money than firearms. They have received the largest chunk of my disposable income in the last 3 months... heck, they have received pretty much 75% of my disposable income in the last 3 months, every month.

Ain't that the truth. I heard when you get sworn in to political office, you have to check your brain at the front door and you get it back when you retire or get impeached... some brains get damaged during storage and upon reinstallation, the owners become consultants and political hacks who provide useless commentary for pay.

Despite my political opinion about this stimulus, if someone (the gov in this case) were to give me $600 or so, I would put it toward going to Maui with my girlfriend. Together, we'd be able to afford most of the trip and we haven't been there in a while. We both miss it. She grew up there and I used to spend a lot of time there, so it's really special to us.

I don't think I'd buy another gun. Maybe, but I can think of much better things to do with money.

Awww. so little economic teachings out there....

I am not sure why you say that. As I understand it, it is a tax cut. Less tax is being taken by the government. Is that not what it is?

I am a HUGE fan of tax cuts to everyone. However, they have to be matched with SPENDING cuts as the fact that you allowed the peons to keep more of their money while taking out more loans to spend out the ying yang means that you are taking a loan on future tax revenue.

It's that "no free lunch" scenario.

Barry is taking us down the primrose path again. A Trillion here, a Trillion there, pretty soon, you are talking real money.

Here is another way to look at "stimulous" packages.... if you take money from one group or future group to give to another... where is the increase? take 100, give 100. No net increase in spending, just wealth redistribution... Except when you take from future generations, then it is more like take 200, give 100....

I wonder why Barry NEVER says anything about spending cuts..... just more wealthe redistribution

How many will buy another gun if they get a nice check in the mail from Uncle Sam?

No guns here - not that I would not like to - my hours at work have been reduced quite a bit , will lose at least 7 days of work here in Jan. , any "stimulus" will be used to offset that loss.

I used the last "Bush check" to stimulate the local economy for one day buying a set of Michelins for the car.

Like the others mentioned a dividing of the 700 billion would have been a true stimulus.

i am paying off part of this credit card bill that i can't seem to get rid of. my apr is 17 percent which is a killer.
