Anybody going back to revolvers in their old age?

One of these days Americans will wake up in the morning and suddenly realize their net worth went down oh lets say 60% from the day before. When this happens which would you rather have high capacity easy to reload pistol or low capacity revolver that is nearly impossible to reload quickly under stress?

+1 unsettled times call for superior firearms.

Just have to ask, are you shooting the Smiths SA or DA?..

I wouldn't fully agree with that but when one makes a statement like this I have to ask the question.

Both... DA my groups are tighter and more consistent than my semis, and SA even more so. I like being able to shoot both DA and SA since it helps separate my trigger control issues from gun issues. I know there is no inherent reason for a revolver to be more accurate than a semi, and why I kept qualifying "in my hands," and "for me."

The whole range shooting experience also feels tighter/crisper (and more enjoyable for me) with revolvers. From the trigger pull/break, to the lack of a slide slamming back/forth and brass bouncing off the stall walls back into my face, and even [range] loading cylinders vs mags (by hand, or speed loaders) and cleaning up the brass afterwards.

That said, I know in a tactical situation requiring a reload, the situation is totally reversed ;). Don't get me wrong, I like my Glocks (not the LCP though) they are accurate and have been totally reliable for me.... but my revolvers have just been "better".... for me - YMMV.

I'm nearly 35, but I find myself gravitating back toward revolvers for carry duty. I have a 14 round .40 by the bed, a 92fs I'll never give up and would be the first handgun I would grab in an emergency bug out.

I have 5 or 6 other semiautomatics, but there is something about compact j frame that speaks to me. For my perceived needs day to day at my low risk job living in my nearly nonexistent violent crime town, 5 rounds of potent .38 +p feels just fine.

I shoot it well, and an Airweight disappears in my pocket or belt. I always have it on me. Yes, I have heard the old "It's not the probability, it's the stakes" line. I don't knock or begrudge anyone that carries an auto. I simply have not found a way where I will commit to carrying one concealed. Open carry? Sure, every time unless it's a nice heavy .357 wood stomping revolver.

But if I am honest with myself, a small revolver is what I will carry all the time, every day. A 642 in my pocket is worth more than 2 G19s at home in the safe.

I'm 63, and I've never really gotten away from revolvers. Oh, I've flirted with "automatics" as I still call them.
By the way, anybody remember when they used to call them Auto-Loaders?
Back in IPSC days, I fell under the spell of Jeff Cooper and got a Colt 1911. I was young back then and didn't mind chasing brass. I've owned various and sundry ones since then but sold most of them.

My wife has a Glock 17 and I've got a Ruger P95DC that I enjoy shooting but only because there is a guy at the range where I shoot, with a dustpan and a broom who'll sweep up my brass and dump it in my range bag for me. I usually end up with more than I shot. If not for that I wouldn't bother with those two.

Im 61 and pick up 300-500 pieces a week, and thats just my pistol (and some revolver) brass. All that bending over helps keep me fit. I just look at it as a "cool down" from shooting. :)

By the way, revolver brass ends up in the same place as the auto brass, if youre reloading them properly, so whats the difference? ;)

lmao, in the scenario you speak of your handgun, no matter what capacity will play second fiddle to a rifle.. i'll take an AK-74 over your 17 shot 9mm any day should that scenario come to fruition and will take a 44 mag + for armored assailants over a 9 mil of any capacity

I think this one's done. Seems a "revolver vs semi-auto" thread shows up about once a week. Not only is nothing new being offered in this one, but we're now into TEOTWAWKI scenarios, which we don't do here.
